I've been ranting on my diary about the interest on my BC cc and really shouldn't get started on here again! Not until I read the small prints anyway ;)

Update: Balance was £1453.17 - Interest = £26.36 - paid off £50 tonight so final balance = £1429.56 that's £356.66 paid off since December statement

    #135 is £356.66/ 1786.19 (19.96%)

My aim for Feb is to pay off as much as possible of the balance as early as possible in the month, and to pay off about 25% of the remaining balance so 25% of 1429.56 = £357.39
    LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012

Anyway, on to paying off debt:

Another £200 for me please. Payday Friday (at looooooonnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggg last) so i thought i will pay off this amount that i have left in my account:

Brilliant. Thanks Psycho. Chose the Stretchy - less bright option. Much better. :T

My housemates in Paris until Friday and I've been dogsitting since Friday. Since I moved in in December I've been training them slowly, but I seem to have had a massive breakthrough this week :) They no longer jump up at me and they don't lick my face, they still lick my feet but I can live with that. Anyhoo, just showered them but had no idea where the dog shampoo was so used a normal shampoo... I made sure to rinse thoroughly but do any dog owners know if this was wrong? It was a very gentle shampoo without the nasty silicone stuff in, I double checked

    Should be fine!

    :( Trying hard...failing miserably :(
  • Hello fellow DFWers, just checking in with my total as I can see that I have been paid.

    #264 582.21/7933.95

Quite a lot less than I was originally hoping, last weekend went on a bit of a mad bar crawl then we stupidly thought it was a good idea to go clubbing (So not worth it!), losing something to the tune of 150 squids and didn't get home till 8am - I havent done that in YEARS. Alcohol/Cabs/Kebabs/Cigarettes/Maccy D's/More Cabs/More Cigarettes.... I have a work thing this Thursday and I am determined this will be the last of the "going out" for at least 3 weeks.

Also lent my bro 415 squids this month, paid the MOT + car repairs came to 270 squids. Still haven't paid the Car tax, will do that tomorrow though - 130 squids there - cars are way too expensive to run nowadays, even a crappy 8 year old corsa

MSE things I have done over the last week and a bit (I have been lurkng on this thread and did a massive catch up reading sesh yesterday).
    1. Sign up to Graze via quidco to get 1.50 squids cashback and a free lunch, might even do the 2nd lunch box for 1/2 price - still undecided
    2. Signed up to Netflix for 1 month free - watched the first 3 seasons of Californication already! and that Apocalypto film i always wanted to watch but was too lazy to go to cinema to watch
    3. Signed up to Lovefilm for 1 month free - to get a 20 squid amazon voucher
    4. Signed up to "Which" website for 1 quid to get 15 squid John Lewis vouchers
    5. Brought lunch in every day this month to work except for a 1.40 sandwich, 3 squid BK whopper meal on shared voucher and a rather disappointing 7.50 chiquitos
    6. Kept an accurate spending diary - I know to the penny what has been spent an all my bank accounts, CC's and how much is in my wallet!

Things I would like to do by Feb payday
    1. Cancel all the subscriptions before they sting and check into getting more freebies - I think the free 10 squid skybet is my next target for free stuff then maybe do the lovefilm and which thing again but with my work address.
    2. Empty my "To Ebay" shelf - this i dread the most, it seems like so much hard work but i know it will be worth it in the end
    3. Get up to 1500 squids paid off - this should be doable especially if bro coughs up half of what I lent him this month
    4. Give the patches another go - I stupidly ran out of patches and just couldnt resist the call of the nicotine - recently found that buying the patches from Ebay is much much cheaper than from a supermarket, almost 50%. probably rejects from people who bought more than they needed or summat
    5. Either start to use these groupon salsa lesson tickets or just sell them / give them away
    6. If going cinema, only use the orange wednesdays offer - think we will go see the new Underworld

Sorry, bit of a ramble, but this is a bit of a mind dump for me.

  • Oh forgot to mention that I also took advantage of that 20 squid off glasses thing before it ran out on Friday then talked to our HR today (summat I would never have done in the past, always thought it was more hassle than it was worth) to see if we can get eyetests reimbursed. I was remotely tempted with getting a free eyetest from tesco, but nearest one with a optician was about 20min drive away and I a little suspicious of how good a service you actually get. My HR rep said he will look into it, but work will almost certainly pay for the eyetest and maybe up to 50 squid off any new glasses - wish I had known this before, would have gotten some better ones but hey, cant complain at free glases!

Thank you, I text my housemate to say what I'd done and she said that was fine. She's really grateful that I've looked after them for her :)

You're doing really well keep at it :)
You mention skybet, not that I'm promoting gambling as I don't agree with it, but there's a section on matched betting on the forum whereby you can exploit the free bets. Not one for those that are impulsive so I've not tried it myself, but there are people that have pulled the free dosh out of this.
Definitely cancel the subscriptions before you get charged, they're things you wouldn't have purchased otherwise and the graze box isn't worth the money you spend (mostly raisins + sultanas which are cheaper in the shop) although nice as a freebie.

  • Hello all,

A flying visit for me, I've got oddles to do while I have the house to myself.

    #064 £534.30/£13,210.36

I haven't really sent any extra payments to my debts this week but have made excellent progress getting all my bills down so next month I should really see a huge difference with my bank balance :)

I'm only £30 away from success on my Jan mini challenge of getting BC down to £1850. I have £31 in my account to last me until Friday so fingers crossed they'll be no unexpected bills for the next 2 days and that will be sent straight there on Thursday night. Yay!! :j

I'm tempted to send the cash over now but I've done that before and forgotten another dd coming out & had to pay a £6 bank charge for my debt busting trouble

    Have a good day!

P.S. I must the the only one that likes the new forum look! *Posh runs away before getting pelted with rotten tomatoes*
