  • Oh they make me laugh! :rotfl:

Received a letter this morning from DLC to say that the letter they sent me on the 17th of January was sent out in error and actually they aren't offering to match any of my payments in Feb or March!

Oh well, at least now I know what the best course of action is!

  • Well done to everyone who's made debt payments so far! We get paid Friday and I can't wait to start paying mine off!

For attention of Catmort I eat fresh fruit for brekkie too but have mine with natural yoghurt as this is an alkaline food to counteract the acidity of the fruit (may be a bit more appetising than the spinach?!). I get my yoghurt in big pots from Sa!nsbury's basics range 55p and use one pot over 3 days so it's not too expensive.

Gemma - don't lose heart with your walking - I walk about 2 miles nearly every day and within a few months of starting I lost a dress size and I wasn't even trying to diet (so I hadn't cut down on food). Last year I also lost half a stone in 1 month just by cutting out milk chocolate and having 75% cocoa chocolate instead, again I hadn't made any other diet adjustments.

  • Hiya! Finally managed to make my first payments!

Paid £60 but as we used one of the credit cards the other day to book up a comedy gig (that's what credit cards are for, no?) it only actually means £17 off the debt... SO:

    #226 £17/16904.29 :j

Should be able to pay more off soon as well as monies are starting to come in now for this month :)

    Hello people

Thought I'd put in a wee update even though it isn't great! We had to put the some of the cost of buying my OH's kilt for our wedding onto the credit card the other day. Not ideal and we did think about hiring but he really wanted a kilt and it is absolutely gorgeous and well worth the high cost.

It's gonna be so tough this year trying to clear debt and getting married- still got loads to pay for for the wedding! We were talking last night about money and where we are at and I said to my OH that before this thread and discovering :money: we were in a really bad place, over spending every month and getting further and further into debt. On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being the most rubbish anybody could be with money and 10 being the best anybody could be with money, we were most def a 1! However, now I reckon we are about a 5. Still lots to do but a great improvement :j

I have made big improvements on the cost of bills and getting the best deals, ebaying stuff and selling unwanted things. However, we still need to curb our spending massively (although we are WAY better than before!) and throw money at the debts. I have done a budget for next month and am using the pots/envelopes idea for different bits of money for different things. Love this idea so thanks to all for suggesting it :T

Anyways (sorry didn't mean to rabbit on!) we are now....

Not exactly going the right direction but it will again come payday on Friday! Thanks you to everyone for the fabulous tips, love reading this thread and although I don't post much, I like to keep up to date with what is going on :)

Brought in some ham, cheese and mayo to make sandwiches only to get to the kitchen at work and realise I'd left the bread at home :(

So in the spirit of not going out and using needless petrol/cash to go and a) buy more bread I dont need or b) buy a whole sandwich because I'm p*ssed off, I am now utilising my cheese & onion crisps as a kind of canape affair with bits of cheese and ham on them :rotfl:

dd1981 - every little bit helps and January is a difficult and long month. I had to put a few things on the CC recently, it happens:p

Mmmm...crisps sarnies, must be good - on diet!

psychopathbabble - hope you feel better soon, at least you're not pregnant as many suggested, or are you? ;)

Mmmm....75% cocoa chocolate, NO! Must be good, aw who am I kidding?:p

Ah, I don't mind the spinach really and it's good for me :)
Thanks for the tip but I'm not allowed dairy either so unfortunately no yoghurt for me...
