Don't feel bad it's a looooong month! Have you set yourself aside budgets for everything? There's the grocery challenge, weekly spend challenge, and others if you need encouragement, they've certainly helped me
Thanks Kerri, I've tried to budget before but I don't really get it. I end up thinking I need way more than I earn or actually end up spending. Hopefully the spending diary will help me see exactly what I do spend on. I think it's mainly food!Debt Free by Xmas 2012 member #281: £6,627.08/£7,735.45 (85.67%)0 -

food, just made nigella oven chips and put cheese on them this time om nom nom. The only way I found to cut down spending on food was the grocery challenge and to make food from scratch. I've definitely spent a lot less since I stopped shopping in the SM every week as well. Feb will be the first month I've completely stuck to it though.

I was exactly the same, spent most of my money on food! Best thing I did was to try and get as many no spend days as possible each month... It's quite fun actually and has stopped me from getting a takeaway or chocolate bar etc just because I don't want to lose a NSD. I have definitely curbed what I buy in the supermarkets because of it, I always have a spendy day on a sunday as I go out for tea so make sure that I go to the supermarket to get things for my lunches for the week that day so I don't lost another NSD.
I used to spend about £3-4 per day easy on lunches at work but now I always take my own and have got into the routine. Give it a go, it's surprising how easy it is to have fun getting to your target NSD's for the month. Most I've had is 7 NSD's in a row but normal is about 4. I'm going to try and get 20 in Feb which will be tough as there are only 29 days :eek:New Debt Journey: Pay off £19,622.91 by 30th April 2015 :T

Hello everybody!
Not been nearly as active in this challenge so far as I was hoping to be . There's been a few little things I've needed money for so far this month (holidays, am I allowed to say that or is that a dirty word round here?!) but I'll be back on the wagon with Febs pay (middle of the month, sooooooo long away!)
Anyway, I'm number 217
PAID OFF £31 / £6,000
Hmmm, slow and steady certainly doesn't win this race. Will be picking up speed again in a few weeks. Nice to everyone doing so well!Aiming for that elusive 'debt free' by Christmas 2012

I also bought a laptop in January, convincing myself I needed it for work (I work in IT and couldn't run the software I needed properly on my old laptop)
Hi i don't know if it would help or if you could/or still need it, but could you sell the old laptop?
