I'm here but need to wait for payday to pay anything else off. I have paid my DDs for the month but haven't worked out the interest yet...

i'm here but not very money saving this weekend, its my sons 4th birthday tomorrow so with presents etc costing money and going to the Harvester tonight for dinner yum,, but
i have 36 items listed on ebay and love watching the total going up only £28.03 so far but many days left for lovely bidders,
every penny is going to Vanquis. xx

Oh I love the Harvester! Nice food, cheap price but superb free salad and bread rolls! They do a takeaway which is good (if not particularly in the mood to endure screaming children when you have a hangover) but unfortunately our nearest Harvester is 12 miles away in Accrington so it's nearly cold by the time we get it home... Salad's ok though! :rotfl:

Instead of listing on Ebay I've been looking at knee high boots... Some good has come out of it though as my family owns a shoe company and knows the supplier of the boots I like so will get them at trade price if I like them when I try them on...!

I've arranged to have an eye test and get contacts again as my health insurance renews on Feb 1st so going hopefully on Saturday with Fran (my best friend) to see her friend as he's an optician so will hopefully get a discount (I've met him before). Then I'm getting my hair cut on the 31st but using a mobile hairdresser who is only 25yrs so is great at cutting young people's (yes I still count myself as young!) but at £20 and not leaving the comfort of your own house! So instead of my hair costing £75+ it will cost £25 for a cut and colour. Very MSE of me... My boots instead of £65 will be free from my family... Now for the clothes using my birthday money! hehehe all excited!!!

Maybe they're too busy debtbusting to pop on and some people can only debtbust on payday too :o

Just dragged DH to the Rainge, said I'd only be 5 mins so left him sat in the car listening to the footy. Half an hour and £15 later...:p

Kerri - love the challenge. I used to do this all the time and I still do to some extent but it's more vague these days :D. When Mr S delivers tomorrow night will write a specific menu:)

Ah yes I think I know the one, is it just off the roundabout, on the way to Skipton a bit before you get to Earby? xxx

    Hellooooooooooooo

Ugh just been to morrisons, we were going to have lunch at the restaurant as we'd been out since 10am and it was pushing 1:30pm by the time we got there, me: 'which of your meals are suited for coeliacs?' server: *confused look* me: 'he cant eat anything with gluten' server: 'umm hang on i'll have to check' . . off he wanders . . . comes back 'um we dont know what that means, what cant he eat?' me: 'things that contain gluten' server: 'oh gluten hang on' . . . wanders off again with me thinking im sure I said that before he went the first time . . . he comes back, 'well the omelette could be gluten free but we cant guarantee it' now its my turn to look confused 'how can omelette NOT be gluten free? its made from eggs and nowt else' server: 'well I dont know, thats what they said, something about the rules changing' me (rolling eyes at this point) 'is that a picture of a jacket potato?' pointing at the miniscule picture on their MASSIVE board, server: 'yes it is . . but we dont serve those on a sunday' me: 'right so the only thing you serve thats suitable for a medical condition is not available cos its sunday? Morrisons have decided that your only allowed to have severe medical problems 6 days of the week? yet a vegetarian . . which is a life choice . . can eat at least 6 things on your menu any day they wish?' server: 'ummmmm . . . . ' imploring look at me to please go away.

We ended up going over the road to a Marstons that even though they were changing their menu on tuesday and were out of half their menu STILL managed to feed the coeliac. Needless to say I wasnt impressed with Morrisons at all :(

Did go back and do my shop and managed to spend £77 :(, didn't even buy any joints of meat  did buy 8 family boxes of their stuffing though and a load of gluten free stuff for Jake so I can see why my bill was so high, but still :(

Thank you mf0u1098 for updating the front page and keeping us all motivated :D

I am still here, making small steps but not able to actually pay anything until my long-awaited pay day rolls around.

    Small steps have included:
    • Actually putting in the expenses for my volunteer work - awaiting £120
    • Completing expenses for work from December! - £150 (cheque received waiting for it to clear - then it going straight to the ghastly Vanquis debt!)
    • Not going out last night, saved at least £40 - OH tried to lend it to me but I refused because it is all good and well borrowing it but it is really the future me I am lending from and she really needs the money! :rotfl:
    I still have to:
    • Send my old iphone to Maz*ma - £60
    • Apply for TV Licence refund - £60
    • Fleabay SOOOO much stuff!
I just can't seem to get motivated to do these things - I never have any free time and when I do I like to chill :o:o (lazy!)

However, on the plus side of things - I am nearing the end of January and for the first time EVER I still have money left, not lots but SOME :T I am quite proud of my budgeting skills... Also, the OH is taking me out for a meal tonight (with a voucher) so am really looking forward to that!

Hope you all have great evenings :D

KS2008 - Wouls you not get more for your iphone selling on ebay? Should certainly get more than £60 for it.

It's great to hear from you Kat! Sounds like you're doing well actually and like you I like to just chill out (code word for vegging on the sofa or in bed watching the telly) when I have free time... :rotfl:

I think the 2 easiest things for you to do are sort out your refund for your TV licence but the main one is to send off your mobile as they become out of date so quickly so might reduce the money they give you? I've never done it so don't know but it seems logical to me...? Fleabaying is definitely not my favourite thing and I still haven't done any since before Xmas but I will get around to it one day.

I'm really chuffed for you that you've still got some money left at the end of January. At the end of the day this challenge is as much about changing spending habits to stay away from credit as it is about paying it all off. If we can use this year to change our spending habits then it will be much easier to live without debt. I know it probably sounds weird but I'm a little uneasy about how I will be when I don't have to pay anyone off as the money will be mine. This is almost like giving myself credit again! I think I just need to focus on a new goal after becoming debt free so I don't fritter the money away!

Keep us updated with how you're getting on Kat xxx

Jemma someone on the second purse challenge got blue dragon sweet and sour 3 for £1 but didn't say where from, maybe lido? But well done on stocking up :-) i need to do a lot more when I get paid. Right off to decide on pizza mmmm

This weeks mini challenge will be to meal plan. Check your cupboards, freezer, behind the sofa and come up with 7 tasty dinners, lunches, brekkies. Then stick to it :-) don't forget to write it down for all to see and drool :-)

I made chilli last night with rice and pittas.
Tonight its a roast and using up last frozen bags of stuff from Xmas and leftover stuffing/roast spuds/gravy we froze etc.
Rest of the week (Some not especially awe inspiring but can do all of these from cupboard & freezer - though nothing from the back of the sofa :rotfl:)
pasta in tomato soup with tuna and sweetcorn.
Chicken casserole in the slow cooker with loads of veg & dumplings with hot buttered rolls
baked spuds with cheese and baked beans.
Supanoodles (bought loads when they were on offer in Ts) & chicken pieces in breadcrumbs.
Fish, hash browns and tinned peas

Brekkies & Lunch - I bought some porridge sachets a while ago that have been sat in the cupboard so I'll take them to work and a carton of milk. Lunch wise, there'll be pasta left over which will do for one or two lunches, might take a potato to do the microwave with some cheese and butter for one day. If there's any meat left tonight it can go in a sandwich. Packet of supanoodles and bread and butter one day..

We love Harvester too .. fill up on salad and rolls. I usually have the triple chicken and end up taking a piece of chicken home in a doggy bag which does for sarnies for work :)
