Jemma, I just had to tell the OH your tale with your mother as I normally have to tell my mother too so can relate, although not that mine are splitting up as they're too financially entangled but my Dad goes off for long weekends to get away from her and spends all his time at home tinkering with his motorbikes. *big hugs*

To help me run this thread easily, could you please all post your totals in large text and in a bold colour, i.e.:
    £265.43/£7685.67
(where the first amount is the total you have paid off so far in this challenge and the second amount is the total you pledged to clear by Xmas 2012.
It would also be a big help if you could also put with it your challenge number.
i.e. another £50 paid off so now the total for
    #001 is £315.43/£7685.67
By the way, don't worry about working out your % paid as I can do that for you!

    hallo!

I must post more... I must post more...

thanks for giving me a number. I've done a signature now, hopefully it's worked!

My debt may not seem huge, but to me, it seems a big deal. My dad was always bad with debt and we grew up poor because of his inability not to overspend what we didn't have. In comparison I'm quite good with money, but I did my nurse training a few years ago and became a single mum 6 months into the 3 year course, and this is the remaining debt from my time as a single mum student.

Also hoping I can shed some lbs as well as pounds too!

Trying my best to not let my boyfriend fill me up with Dominos pizza... trying to have willpower! Cooking us meals more and more than letting him buy us junk.

weewifie, it doesn't matter how much debt you have or how much we have. It is affecting your life (and lining fat cat's pockets!) so it has to go. There are so many different people with different circumstances on this thread and no debt is too small or too large for us to support each other. There is absolutely NO judgements on this thread and you WILL get there bit by bit, day by day. All it takes is making small changes slowly and build them into your normal life rather trying to make huge cut backs that never work. I think you've done an absolutely superb job given that you were doing nurse training and bringing up a small child on your own. You truly are an inspiration as I have trouble just looking after myself! :rotfl:

  • Well, I'm gloating that I didn't go in to town - I picked up my parcel, came straight home and have just listed 32 items on ebay, so hoping for a few sales :) I've been sitting here happily watching my DVDs, one of which I have just listed to sell!!

Now going to move some paypal money around and make a payment so I can update my total! Payday soon, so want to see how my overdraft is looking......

20 items listed on fleabay, more to list tomorrow but I haven't written them on my spreadsheet although I do have the pictures.
I find it easiest to go through the pile writing into a spreadsheet, brand, size, colour, material, etc then when I go to list I do it by product type so all belts first, then scarves, tops etc... so I can keep doing "list similar item" and just change the drop downs and copy and paste the description from the spreadsheet. I also list them within the category by weight order, so all 100g first then 150g, this way I can get through them all quicker without switching and changing so much.
I also have a set copy for my description which has things like "why selling", "description", "postage", "returns" set as standard so each listing has the same.
Hope this helps some people speed up their listings :)

Thanks kerri, it can be really draining can't it...?! It's also frustrating that you can see how they could change their behaviour to be happy but they won't despite how many times we tell them. I often feel like I'm the parent not the child! I just wish I could tell them how lucky they are but they are stuck in their own little victim world...

Oh well, I have my own life to lead, which reminds me, I've almost finished going through the posts writing down the totals but I think I'll go for a long walk whilst there's a break in the weather and update the first page when I get back. I have seen by using myfitnesspal that I do really well at eating during the week but the weekends just ruin everything so if I can burn off the excess calories by making sure I exercise over the weekend then I should be able to bring the weekend in line with the rest of the week. Should then be able to lose weight faster and let's face it, I have extra incentive now hopefully... ;)

    #023 has paid £2658/£15000 (17.7%):)
    Debt £26k 18/10/14
  • So I have just moved paypal stuff around and made a little payment. Also looked at my bank a/c and I'm £51 overdrawn with 3 days until payday. Thanks to this thread, I have started paying off my debt and got my end-of-month overdraft down by £650 in 3 months! :rotfl:
Next month I aim to be in credit come payday, so anything left can be thrown at the debt. :D

    #38 new total: £320 / £2529.33

And this is all thanks to the support and encouragement of reading everyone else's posts. Keep going everyone :)
