I always thought if he'd had the support at school he would have gone into some sort of engineering / construction work, but they labelled him stupid and sat him at the back of the class :(

This seems to be a big problem. Most of MrS's teachers wrote him off but one or two supported and encouraged him. Without them, he would not have gone to Uni, got a 2:2, spent 2 years as a regional manager of a supermarket (running 30 odd stores and petrol stations), spent a year in a german uni and now is fluent in speaking german, he is now a sales manager and spirit taster in a distillery.

It's sad that so many people are written off at a young age :(

Have any of those doing cashback for bingo had their cashback paid to them yet? I'm considering doing this tonight, but I don't want to stake £10 for them to rip me off.

I have had one tracked but isn't due for payment till March and the other hasn't tracked yet but the stats say it takes over a week. I am £100 in profit according to my bingo spreadsheet not including cash back of another £90. :j:j:j:j:j

All to go off the debt when it arrives.

    :( Trying hard...failing miserably :(
  • AH thanks, yes it is his self esteem that is worrying me the most, we are constantly telling him he is clever and wonderful but he just seems so sad. Did contact the lea they said it's a long wait. Hopefully if I am armed with a report from specialist the school will have to help him.
Hope you don't mind me asking, I am just learning and reading up about Dyslexia but does it effect your short term memory at all ? He seems to struggle a lot with this, yet can recount every little detail of an event from years ago.

It is my memory that is mostly affected. My spelling is fine and my reading was always ahead of my age. I also have ADD (not ADHD as I sit on the couch!!) so distraction is a massive issue too. Working memory and long term memory are different and use different parts of the brain.

    :( Trying hard...failing miserably :(

Ooh fingers crossed then, the reviews weren't very favourable that was all. I might give it a go although I'm not a gambler and don't advocate it either.

[QUOTEIt's sad that so many people are written off at a young age :([/QUOTE]

Until recently, I worked in a primary school, supporting the "special" children as they were labelled by teachers. Education is so obsessed with attainment and children being at a certain level, that those who aren't expected to be a level 3 or 4 by yr6 are somewhat ignored. That attitude really used to frustrate me, it was as if they weren't worth the effort. I went back to vist just before Christmas and it was really sad to see the little group I'd worked so hard with for 2 years just being "dumped" with worksheets in a corner because they won't be doing SATs this year. ALL of that group could bloomin' do the job I do now!

I've just had a slow half an hour so decided to make my 2nd purse spreadsheet available for everyone :)
    Link
Should be fairly straight forward, yellow columns update automatically :)
To download then go to File > download as > excel :)
There's one sheet that you record your stockpile in, so you can see when you need to restock, and another sheet for recording transactions into and out of the purse.
Each Wednesday I update the "current price" field so I know what I would be charged if I had to get it from the shops. I just go by the average on mysupermarket.
    Hope that helps some people.

Wow its taken me ages to catch up with the thread, note to self don't miss 2 days!

Looks like everyone is doing great, I haven't paid anymore debt off as I'm waiting till the end of the month to see what's left in our account. I Think this is the best January we've every had, normally we are running low on cash and struggle to get through the month but thanks to our NSD we are doing ok, touch wood....

We are off out next week for a meal with friends as its my birthday, so I'm holding a budget and I'm hoping my OH doesn't buy me anything on the CC, I've told him I don't need or want anything so hopefully he will listen.

Ebay listing this weekend for me and I have also looked on both zapper and musicmagpie so will be sending some cd's off too.

Kerri I did the cashback thing with a gambling site at Christmas for the first time and it tracked within a day, it was with quidco and the site was Caesars bingo and its just confirmed today (£40 off my debt when its banked)

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!:bdaycake:
