    HI

i was wondering if any one has any idea about credit files. I have some late payments on file over 06 - 08, no defaults . Do these totally ruin chances of getting a mortgage ( got a 25% deposit ) also do they drop off 6 years after you get them or 6 years after you close the account as some stayed open for a couple more years. Only asking as moving house is the reason im pushing to get this debt paid off then i am moving to a lovely house, not seen it yet but got a year yet !

got to say pretty impressed that not one single late payment logged after 2008 !

I could be wrong but I think that most places only look at late payments over the last year or so. You might get a better idea if you post on the mortgage board to get a decent answer. Have you checked your credit file....no late payments and no defaults? You should be fine!

    :( Trying hard...failing miserably :(

I am nearly at my target of clearing off £1039.79 a month in order to be debt free by the end of the year.

Yay, if you can hit your target in January then you'll have no problem with the rest of the months!!! :T:T:T

Boo hoo I have double counted a payment so my new payment total is
    #259 £939.99/£12,477.37

I was so pleased as well at getting over the £1k.

Think positive we are only half way through the month.

Loving all the dating talk everyone.

I am looking for advice though, I have included all my debt including my OD but I do tend to go the bank and be tempted to use up to the limit. I have decided that I will budget to leave some money in the bank to start clearing this, my question is will the bank reduce this monthly for me? Or should I keep it there incase of emergencies?

I pay a chunk of mine off every month when I first get paid as if it was a bill - so if you could even knock it down by £50 a month then you don't have the option to spend it again when it gets halfway through the month and you're feeling skint!:)
