Another well revieved VoIP router is the

DrayTek Vigor 2100VG 54Mbps Wireless Broadband Router w/Voice over IP

    DrayTek Website

This will allows you to plug you phone line and phone in the router, receive calls via your land line (so no need to change your number and tell everyone) and make them calls over VoIP or your standard phone line, if you want to use the land line you just prefix the number with *0. it is also a 4 way Ethernet switch for you home network.

Theres are two models one for ADSL connections and one for cable modem connetions, plus there are version with and without wireless so make sure you get the right one!

The thing is, aren't VoIP calls with a Draytek router bound to their VoIP service?

I'm really on the hunt for a full system that will let me route calls to whichever provider I wanted to use.

You can use it with any service provider, on the DrayTek website it shows you the setup instructions when using it with 1899.com

Ah - excellent. Thanks very much.

Surely there's something available then that just does VoIP - nothing else. No routing. NO NAT. None of that?

I don't really want to start making changes to my well set network setup.

Heads up or a tip for others:

I've just got working 1899 VoIP service with X-Lite very easily. It's much better software than the 1899's downloaded one. It also means you can have your Sipgate number (or similar) 'on' at the same time as calling out over 1899 etc.

Still, lots of fun stuff :-)

I am using 1899 and finding it pretty good. One question regarding a headset. I'm currently using a standard headset i.e. headphones/boom mic attached by a cord to my pc. Can I use a bluetooth headset that I would use for my mobile phone to use this service? I have a bluetooth dongle (I don't have a bluetooth headset or I would have already tried!).
    Thanks in advance.

    The last section has details.

If you only use 1899 with X-Lite you may want to set the primary and secondary STUN servers to: stun.1899.com in the 'networks' setup.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

A very good job, text and screen shots clear and concise.
