Driving through a no entry sign

There was no need for that comment, I doubt the OP is stupid, or was deliberately negligent. Anyone can make a mistake, especially if they become flustered in an unfamiliar area, or haven't had their licence very long.

In that case they should have been MORE observant and therefore more likely to see them.0 -
Not really, they could have been getting directions from someone, or as in my case, driving a routine road and simply not have noticed it had changed. Have even seen sat navs giving instructions to go down one way streets the wrong way. So easy to lose concentration when other things are going on, especially if you got kids in the car or are trying to concentrate on what Mr Tom Tom is saying.
But then isn't it a pity we're not all as perfect as some on here4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -

Tough titty, you should have noticed, you were behind the wheel of a car!
The next thing you may 'not notice' is a child running into the road to fetch their ball!0 -
So what would you do if you went up a one way street the wrong way smart 4rse. Carry on up the one way street? You turn your vehicle as soon as you can rectify the mistake.
Actually, in this hypothetical scenario you have presented to me the answer is to continue onwards, very carefully, and not to turn around.
By turning around there will be moments of the manoeuvre where you will be 'blind' of other traffic, you will not see them, they may not see you, this is dangerous.
By continuing onward you always have full vision of oncoming traffic, and them of you too.
Of course, it is best not to get into that situation in the first place.
ps I'd rather be a smart ar se than a dead rubbish driver.0 -
Don't think so, as long as you rectified the mistake as soon as you noticed it. That's what I was taught anyhoo.
I loved this comment.... Hope whoever taught you has given up.
Would be great to speed past a speed camera and get flashed, But its OK i will not get a ticket i turned around and drove past under the limit.

(This is a very crude way of describing its function, so please don't expect every queue to magically disappear in an instant!)
A traffic detector does not capture photographic images and is not for enforcement or able to transmit CCTV images to any control. You're safe:beer: Keep an eye out for those red circular signs with a white bar through them though;)
Indeed, this is what makes puffin crossings "intelligent" - the fact that they can alter the delays between lights changing by taking the traffic and amount of people crossing into consideration. Crossings which have pedestrian detection installed (this can be another of those little cameras angled to look at the crossing, or induction loops built into the pavement) will normally cancel a push button request if some joker pushes the button and runs away and there is nobody waiting to cross. Similarly if there is very little traffic flow, a push button request will almost immediately change the lights to red, whereas in very heavy traffic it will not.
They are not CCTV cameras or speed cameras or cameras which can catch you crossing red lights. Nobody can view images from them as they do not record video, they are simply sensors.
Normally one-way roads or bus only roads will have signs up to warn you if there are cameras, such as a lot of the road in London which have "traffic enforcement cameras" or "bus lane enforcement cameras" on signs everywhere. The council have drastically changed the layout of a road near me and turned a main route out of the city centre into a one way bus/taxi only lane. There are signs up from about 3000 yards away warning of the new road layout and then from about 1000 yards there are signs which warn of traffic enforcement cameras (eg ones which will catch people going through that shouldn't). While I haven't actually spotted the cameras yet (I doubt there even is any), the council are making a LOT of money because I constantly see people going through there who shouldn't be. They should have just installed some of the automatic bollards like Manchester have!0 -
Driving through a speed trap is not the same as making an error in driving by going up a one way street the wrong way. But in the case of when it happened to me. A habitual drive, do you honestly look at all the signs? As I previously stated, it was one way one day, changed the next day to opposite direction. Road was clear, turned around as soon as I noticed it. Police were there and I was apologetic, explained to him. And all was fine.
Just for the record, in 25 years of driving, one accident (not my fault) and a clean driving license.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0
