Declaring today AFD 5. I've had dinner and coffee so just a cup of tea later on for me.
41, I find that keeping myself. Busy with something I wouldn't usually do in the evening helps stop me from drinking - it's the distraction and the change of habit that does it I think.Trying to keep in budget.

Well i've just had a lovely afternoon with a new dry friend who has been brilliant and really helped me sort out my head, or at least start to. She reminded me that even if i've been really grumpy with my son, I can only learn from it and move on. I have a tendancy to dwell on things and pick over them months after the event. Partly what I used drink to cover probably. Anyway, I just wanted to check in and say hello to everyone x2022 Comp total (prizes + free spins): £494.81 #20 £12 a day Jan: £382.95/£372 #57 360 1p challenge: £17.70 £10 a day Feb: £571.09/£280 March: £311.96/£3100

Jak, you are doing sooo well! I shouldn't worry if you have been grumpy, you care and you are trying to do the right thing. :T

6th AFD for me, I've found this weekend that I've not really missed the drink, also got a fair bit of stuff tidied up and sorted out. So some positives already coming out of it.0

Although I have been AF for over a year now, I didnt find it at all easy to go AF after I decided to.
It took me a good couple of months for my brain to break the link between weekend = alcohol, once I did retrain my brain life did become a LOT easier - hence I am now 64 weeks AF.
Dont forget your trying to change your behaviour, and we know how hard it is to change a childs behaviour !.
Good luck to you all !.0 -
4 please, Shaggy, thanks0

Thanks to all for your well wishes and your premature birthday ones, that was so funny! :rotfl: Who missed this one letter??My birthday is on a saturday too, so not even the SNC to distract me
Thanks for the giggle though. I feel so popular, can we do this again in 2 weeks please?:T
Everyone is sounding positive and even is mistakes are made (which we all know will happen), but if used as a learning tool then we are still progressing.
I wasnt AF fri or sat as I had a friend to stay, but back on the wagon this evening.
1AF please
Has anyone got any advice for a child who won't sleep or switch off at night. My 6 year old has got worse since Daddy left and is often still awake at 9.30pm. I think its habit and despite me trying all sorts of things, he still struggles to sleep.
I started a new routine of up to his room when his sister goes to bed and play lego until 8 ish. THen read books in bed till 8.30pm then lights out. But invariably its much later before he finally gives in. I hate him being this late to sleep, his eyes have rings around them and I think ideally he should be asleep by 7.30pm. He still wakes up at usual time inthe morning and doesnt often lie in.
I think its because at night he isn't distracted by day time events so has time to think about Daddy etc and this keep s him awake. He doesnt want to be up there alone and dwell, but he can't switch off.
Equally though I cna't have him down with me all evening, he is 6 and should be asleep. I need my time which is usually doing jobs. I am getting ratty with him at times now as excuses are starting and whilst I have my supernanny methods to hand I want to allow a little slack given the situation.
I am at my wits end, was crying on the phone to my mum earlier, but neither of us can think of a solution. The GP has prescribed a short term sedative, but that his nearly ended and isn't solving the root cause.
Vent over.Live for the moment and plan for the future0
