  • MrR had his review at the doctors yesterday. I won't bore you with the details but she was pretty blunt with him and he has to make some lifestyle changes. His high blood pressure and high cholesterol is down to the drinking.
He's got to go back next week for another blood pressure check and an ECG
But she told him NOT to stop, as this could lead to fits, etc. He's got to cut down slowly. I've made some suggestions on how he could do this so it's down to him now.

It's dark, wet and miserable here. BabyR is stood at the window waiting for her Daddy to come home. I'm psyching myself up to go to work.

    Have a good weekend :D

    Hi all

Satchmo1, I always thought you were male, no idea why! Well done Cuppatea, when I'm feeling lovesick wine is the first thing I turn to (see last Thursday :() So I'm seriously in awe.

Ive often thought that some of the names on here including mine have made me think that some of you were males as well which for a while was conjuring up some bizarre pictures in my mind :rotfl:

Single mum of one looking for a new start in the new year here. I drink too much. I don't get 'drunk' when I have my son, I have a couple of drinks but nothing major, but the weekends I don't, I have been known to go way overboard.

    Lovely Mackeroo and so true!

Hi Top girl, welcome, you are not the only one, this place has definitely helped me cut down and I also recently became a single mum, so you are not alone.

Thanks to shaggydoo and mackeroo for all your counting and tallying up.

My run of 18 days has been broken by my first alcoholic drink of december. I had 3 measured units with a friend this eve. Part of me feels a little sad I didn't carry on, but another part of me realises I am not aiming to be tee-total, but my rules are:-

    1. Not to drink alone
    2. Try to avoid drinking on a school night or work night.
    3. Drink measured units not home poured.
    4. Stick to the weekly 14?? units.

So based on that I feel much more in control, esp now I am in sole charge of the kids.

And I do realise that the other 11 allowed units must not all be consumed in one sitting, or be carried over to next week...........lol. I can't imagine i'll have more than 2-3 on sunday, when we put up the decs (me, Mum, kids and a friend). But we do have mulled wine at the ready, mince pies and some scrummy baileys.

Its a good job I have a figure to maintain!!!!!Speaking of which another 3lbs on this month, making a total of 6lbs.

I'll go down for the full monty again please (third in a row) as its last week of term.
Live for the moment and plan for the future

Just one more AF night to report - last night I not only didn't drink, but had 12 hours sleep - felt great afterwards too.
Tonight I have drunk a whole bottle of wine and the shameful thing is that I don't even feel particularly drunk!
Must must must try and stop

  • Ooops...................one minute I'm saying I'm drinking ladylike portions of alcohol and the next night someone stole my stop button!!!
Not feeling too good this morning and don't like it.
Off to wrap Christmas presents now as my penance.

Shared half a bottle of nice red wine with other half last night. He went to bed afterwards and I stopped myself reaching for another bottle to have another glass or 2! Other half at his works Christmas party so I will be alone and not drink tonight! Hope you all have a nice Saturday! X
