12/10 AF for me please, thanks to the pass for the choccies. Well done Cuppa, and like you I hope I don't veto the stop button tomorrow night when dining with people I don't know (or met a year ago and struggled to talk to) and the food and wine is provided by DHs organisation. Looking forward to lots of dancing, though, as DH is happy to get up and boogie. Glam shoes, bag and cashmere coat from fleabay, glam velvet dress from TKMacs, bling necklace from charity shop. Whole outfit under £100 for top quality. 20 years ago I thought nothing of hiring an evening dress for £50 - when I was more than solvent.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
  • Hi all

Satchmo1, I always thought you were male, no idea why! Well done Cuppatea, when I'm feeling lovesick wine is the first thing I turn to (see last Thursday :() So I'm seriously in awe.

I'm up to 12 AF days out of 13 now. Apart from my slip up it's going well, Christmas party on Saturday though, going to be hard.
    Barclaycard [STRIKE] £2770 [/STRIKE] now £2690.

Did my Xmas Team meal last friday.

    Total cost ?

    Meal £35.00
Drink £1.50 (half a pint of diet coke)
    Total cost £36.50

Total drink consumed ? 1.5 pints of diet coke (manager bought the other pint).

Went to the pub @ 4.30, meal started @5.30 and finished @7.00 pm and I went home @ 7.00 !

Good night out (despite the karoake during the meal !).
  • I'm not doing too well so far this month, but I have 2 AF days to add making a total of 4/10. The good thing is that I'm not over indulging on the days that I do have a drink. I'm being much more ladylike about my portion sizes of alcohol these days!!!

I have loads of family gatherings over the next two weekends and round christmas week and I was starting to feel quite depressed about it all (does that sound bad?) but had a great chat with OH and feel really good now...it's good to talk lol! I probably won't be around much this weekend. Hope you are all enjoying the chrstmas season.

Don't put yourself down. For me, knowing I can now drink like 'normal' people was an even bigger acheivement than self-enforced AF nights.

Have a great time satchmo, your outfit sounds really fab and very mse. All the boogying should stop you just sitting and drinking and take your own advice about the water between alcoholic drinks.;)

Glad you've talked through your Christmas issues shaggy. I was only thinking this morning that I need to confront the fact I've been going through the motions and doing my best to ignore the proximity! I've been to various events, bought a few gifts for people I know I'd be seeing early, done some essential cards (DH did most) but otherwise I've been drifting. Next week more events but on the day there'll only be four of us so not much more cooking than an average roast. Must make a start on some decorating but feeling resentful about paying an arm and a leg for a tree. I just feel that so many retailers are on the make these days (way more than inflation and increased costs) and I jus hate being ripped off! Bah!!! Thanks for listening all.

    AF again last night.

8 AFDs and 4 for the SNC please.

I'll probably have a drink tonight as I generally do on a Friday but doubt it'll be excessive. Have a good weekend all.

I agree maman. It shouldn't be about depriving yourself of something you enjoy, just knowing when to stop.
