I'm having surgery in 10 days time so must really stop drinking in the run up to it.
I had my pre - op last week which was all fine until the question about how much do you drink? I asked how many units in a bottle of wine and got told 8 so conservatively estimated 40 units which would allow for 5 nights with a bottle of wine and 2 nights without! Obviously the 2 nights without alcohol rarely happens! The one bottle per night now rarely happens as it is one and a bit or one then a stiff whiskey!
As the Dr said I drank "a bit more than is recommended" they did blood tests and liver function tests as well.
Tonight is my first night with no alcohol! I do find if I post on here I am less likely to drink for some reason!

Hope you all manage a dry night tonight if that is what you want!

Hi all. Just a quick one to say that I'm still alive:j. As Cuppa guessed, I had a bad October (so went and hid:o) but have now committed to sorting out my weight which has gone mad this year, so now I'm becoming calorie obsessed and there's a lot of calories in alcohol!

So, I'm trying to get the drinking to be less out-of-control, and at least wake up without a hangover and the guilt (to be honest the guilt is worse than the headache). I'm also trying to get much more exercise, reduce the crap food and generally banish negative thoughts that tend to beg to be drowned in drink otherwise.

I haven't read back beyond this page yet, but that's great news MrsR and Antonic.

Good luck openscreen and everyone else.

Now its off to the gym!:A
Smoke-free since Jan 2012 :j Now its just the drink, and the weight, and life in general :p

3 AF days towards my 15 target. Feeling glum 'cos I damaged my achilles tendon 2 weeks ago, and I'm really missing my exercise routine. I was really tempted to go to Zumba, but sense prevailed.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

  • Morning all,

Waves to MarkMan, I did the hiding thing too - welcome back and good luck with the gym.

Satchmo, amused at the concept of missing Zumba, that is a stage I still haven't got to with exercise. Maybe I should finally try Zumba after all!

1 more AF day for me on Tuesday please Shaggy. I wasn't AF last night but moderate so that's pleasing.

I have a new set of exercises to do from seeing a Physio yesterday. Apparently I should try and swim twice a week too. My neck and shoulder are so painful I am willing to try anything that might help!

Have a good Thursday - I never could get the hang of Thursdays!

    Welcome back Markman

Not much to report. MrR is poorly today. Not sure if he's got the same bug as BabyR, if it's the symptoms of Cold Turkey (he only had half a bottle of white last night), too much worrying about his blood test, or a bit of all 3.

Hope you all have a good day
