EVERYONE WELCOMEWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
Hello everyone, remember me, i come and go and i really should stay, i know, i do read and lurk sometimes.
But I thought i really need to return again and also an update.
I've not been doing ok either hence why i am back here.
I have seriously cut down but still look forward to having a drink and do reguarly drink more than I should, but i don't get out of control, just more than the guidelines. I have also noticed my pattern to drink tends to be later afternoon until I eat dinner which can be anywhere between 7.30 and 9pm depending. Due to circumstances that is the way it is. However I try to drink more fizzy and leave out the alcohol at times and once I've eaten I tend to not want anymore to drink and go onto water and tea.
I've had 2 AF days this week in a row, but now its friday and I am already thinking about having a drink or two this evening.
I do try to have at least 2 nights AF a week which is manageable due to work, plus also one extra on top, doesn't always work though.
Over the last 3-4 weeks I have been getting pains in my chest area under my rib cage, on both sides at times, so i dont know whether its my liver or heart or something else. Can be scary as its more of a dull ache or bruised feeling. Strange since i'm drinking less now that before and trying to measure out my spirits rather than just pour.
After ringing a drinkline phone number they have persuaded me to go the docs and get it check out. I've made an appointment for a couple of weeks time (earliest non emergency one with the doc I prefer). I am going to ask for a blood test to check my liver function. But I feel embarrassed and ashamed of myself to admit to it whilst there. It has never been something I have discussed with a medical person and I'm scared of having it on my records. I worry they will judge me and other GP's have access to my records and some know me in real life and will know my secret!!!!!! Shock horror!!! But that is how I feel.
No-one in RL knows, I wouldnt say I am an alcoholic, because I hold down part time work, run a house, family, function to a high level and generally organised and in control of everything. But I do like a drink and would miss it if my liver is damaged enough to have to give up completely. I am aware over the past 4 years I have drunk reguarly over the guidelines so damage is possible.
I have been researching online into drinkware and health implications, its scary stuff.
Anyway I plan to be around for a while and I hope everyone is having a lovely day.
The good news to drinking less is i am trying to eat more and have managed to put on some weight, my husband has noticed and says i look better and healthier too.

Good afternoon all
8 for me please shaggy!
Been a hectic week here - don't feel like I've stopped at all!
Chicks are doing well and are getting quite tame - Margot even jumps on my hand now when I put it near her.:D
Hoppsy also doing well - discovered last night he knows how to jump on the sofa - scared the living daylights out of me when I was sat there reading a book and this rabbit comes flying over!!:rotfl:
My best friend is going into hospital next Tuesday for her operation so thats playing on my mind a lot. And also work has been horrendous (lots of things going on resulting in a member of staff being disciplined today for bullying!!) so my heads been all over the place. Resisted the urge to drink though as don't think that would have helped my frame of mind.
MAY have a glass of wine tonight - not sure yet. Will see how I feel later!
Welcome back CuppaTea!

11 AF please Shaggy
 cuppatea
Good luck with the docs - always good to get checked out.
I was tempted to ask for a liver function test, then realised, even if it came out ok, I knew I was still drinking too much, IYKWIM
With both my pregnancies I had liver problems - resulting in being induced. I can now see that it was possibly drink related even thou I didn't drink when pregnant...
I have nearly made it to 3 months without a drink - mission impossible, so everyone thought! Highly recommend the Allen Carr book
Miss Piggy - I now think I need a rabbit!! I saw one on come dine with me this week, so cute...
Congrats on not succumbing this week - its always work that gets to me
Out tomorrow night to see a band - driving so no drinking.
Lots of plans for socialising over the next few weeks
Hope you all have the sun we are predicted tomorrow

Hi
Welcome back cuppatea im sure you will get all the support you need.
Ive no more AF's to report here. I knew this month would be tricky as we are of on our hols next weekend and i tend to get the holiday feeling about 2 weeks early. However the drinks i have had have been controlled so not too concerned. Hope everyone has a good weekend xIt’s not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts0 -
Thanks Mackeroo, where are you going anywhere nice?

Not brilliant but all the drinking days have been planned and only one got out of hand . Nice quiet time coming up so I'll get back on track.
Well done Tracy on your nearly-3-months. That's fantastic.
Hi Cuppatea - nice to meet you. I hope it all goes well for you and everyone has a great sunny Saturday.:j0 -
 Morning all, gosh another week has gone by, I just don't get the time to come on here as much as I'd like in the week. Perhaps instead of pouring that first glass of wine I need to log on instead!
Anyway, just a quick update, still not been AF this week, but have significantly cut down. This is a work in progress I know! Hoping to get some AF days under my belt next week.
Thanks for the offer of joining the challenge Shaggy can you put me down as TF and then I can see how I go!
Off to read back through, hope everyone is doing O.K,
Mari xx0
