Morning :hello:
1 more AFD. I have booked a holiday to sunny climes. I must lose some weight! I feel an AFF (alcohol free friday) coming on ....
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

Good Morning guys and girls.
Long time, no 'see'! (I used to post fairly regularly a year - eighteen+ months back).
Hope you're all well.
I'll be two and a half months sober as of tomorrow, thanks to some good friends in AA, and am feeling pretty good about that.
Lots of Love to you all.

... but can I come back again please:o? It's great to see so many familiar names from my last visit over a year ago and see people doing so well.
Anyway, why am I back? Well basically I'm drinking more and more, and especially after giving up smoking with my wife at the start of January (11 weeks today & £700 saved:D) and. I really tried not to have substitutes, but all the extra beer on top of the improved appetite has made me put on weight drastically (I'm rapidly gaining the 2.5 stone I spent 3 years losing:eek:)
Anyway, its getting ridiculous now and have to try and reverse the trend and get back under control again.
I often think back to the support I got here during my short but very useful last session and hope that your support will help me turn things around :ASmoke-free since Jan 2012 :j Now its just the drink, and the weight, and life in general0 -
Sim - I was literally wondering how you were about an hour ago when I was debating whether to come back on here!!!!
How's your life - your last post was dramatic to say the least.Smoke-free since Jan 2012 :j Now its just the drink, and the weight, and life in general0 -
I only drank 4 nights of the holiday. I had 1 sparkling wine and 1 small wine on the 7th march (flying), 3 vodka cranberries on the 10th march, 3 glasses champagne and 4 frozen margaritas on 11th March (husbands birthday) , 1 vodka cranberry 1 sparkling wine , 1 small glass wine 21st march (flying). So I'm really happy with that :/QUOTE]
That's really good :j, hope I can be as measured as you - got a 2 week all incl booked for JulySimIsOnTheUp wrote: »Good Morning guys and girls.

Hi Mark,
Sorry to read that you've been struggling with the booze again.
I'm very well thanks. For the first time in a long time, I'm calm, I'm sober, and I'm slowly getting on top of my finances!
Drinking just isn't an option for me now.

Hi to Sim and MarkMan - glad to meet you both and good luck!
Can anyone help? Since November (with the help of this thread) I've cut down from drinking daily for years to just 3 non-AF days so far this month. I used to suffer from depression and feeling jittery and anxious all the time and that has really improved. Earlier this week I had ONE small beer. It was 4% so 1.1 unit. I enjoyed it and said no to a second and thought GREAT that's the sort of drinking I want to do - little and occassional. The next day I was teary and low and got very anxious about a simple work task then this morning I've just been told that I made a complete mess of it and sent papers to all the wrong people.
Do you think it's coincidence or could 1 small drink really have such an effect?0 -
Hi Sim,
I'm so glad you've sorted your life out. I've often thought about you since your last post and wondered.
AA seems a bit too drastic for me at the moment, but then I think "well do you want to wait until you've lost your job/wife/life before you go?":(
Maybe I'm kidding myself that I can get it under control, but I'll give it another go.
Have a good day all.
