Hi, can I join please? I have been trying to save money to pay off debt by Xmas this year, and I can't believe how hard I'm finding it to cut down on my alcohol! Reading through some (tho not all) of your posts makes me feel like I'm not alone. I think for March I will try to go AF for Mon - Thurs, which will be a bit change for me cos I'm used to having at least one glass of wine each night. That makes a total of 17 AF days next month (yikes, that seems tough, but one day at a time I guess).

I think it was only the fact that Piglet had no shoes or socks on that stopped me dragging him up the shops!!

    Well, if it takes this

Just been reading some of the other pages of posts on here. Wow, so inspiring :)
I need to be totally honest with myself. My drinking started when my marriage was going wrong just over 12 years ago. Now I drink most nights, not to oblivion but sometimes a bottle of wine a night and at weekends the wine and a hefty brandy & coke or 2. I'm off work this week so not been restrained due to no need to drive/ get up early. And it's been particulary noticeable how quickly the brandy went down. I'm ashamed and fed up with myself. My skin is awful and i'm scared of the unknown damage I might already have caused to my health. My boyfriend knows i drink more than i should, and i do have AFD's but they usually amount to one a night. He thinks I've cut down to weekends only :( (we don't live together) I'm scared to be honest with him so will tell him when i've managed this months challenge. WHEN, not if :)
Right now, i'm off for a bubble bath, defuzz and get dressed. Then off down the shops and the library before heading to boyfriends house...AF tonight...**takes deep breath!**

Well done for coming on here in the 1st place :T
I was in the same situation as you, without someone telling me I drank too much!

It has really helped me reading the Allen Carr book, so much so I am probably going to become a preacher :o

Just try one day at a time

I come on here everyday now, only been AF for 10 days, but it is such a lovely place, and you can read through all the old posts when you feel like a drink!

    Good luck

  • Whoop whoop, 11 AF for Feb

Had lots of negativity about stopping drinking today:mad:

Why can't people just be supportive?!?

Oh well, on a positive note, a guy at work offered me his ear for the last 5 mins of the working day if I wanted to rant, bless him

Am getting nervous about my night out tomorrow, singles night without beer goggles...should be interesting!

    Hope everyone ok x

Tracy, imo people who criticise AFness are usually a bit jealous and a bit angry with themselves because they haven't the willpower to do it themselves. Goodness knows there's been enough publicity lately about the wisdom of having some AF days. Have a good time tomorrow and keep visualising how pleased you'll be with yourself when you achieve it!

I'm pleased to say I'm going to get my 'thumbs up' smiley this month. I quite fancied a drink tonight. DH opened a really nice bottle of Sauvignon Blanc (actually I was a bit cross with him as it's too good for weeknight quaffing) but the thought of the smiley urged me on.

14 AF for February and 3 for the SNC please.

    Morning all,

Well can declare 19 AFDs for Feb. Not to target, but well over half the month dry, so won't kick myself too hard.

Shaggy, can you please put me down for 20 AFDs in March please.......thank you !

    Happy St Davids Day everyone.
