Would you put me down for 3 for the SNC please Bearacus?

I may do 4 but I'm hedging my bets in case I fancy bubbly tomorrow.

    Another AF here.
Struggling a bit at the moment. Would really like to stop drinking every weekend (fri or sat), but it seems that i am quite happy to say i have found my stop button and leave it at that.
but actually, although i know its good to have found that stop button, i would like to not drink apart from maybe once a month.

    Any advice?

  • I thought I’d just step out of the corner where I’ve been lurking for the last month or so and say ‘hello’ and ‘thank you’ to all of you nice people on this thread. Without this thread I would no doubt be sitting here with a glass of wine right now.

I found the thread sometime at the beginning of January (when I was pondering whether this would be the year when I finally got a grip and stop drinking on a school-night) and have read everything that has been written since then and (since I can be a bit obsessive) I went back and read great big chunks of Part 1 and Part 10 too. Somewhere along the way I read some mentions of Allen Carr’s ‘Easyway to Control Alcohol’ so I bought a copy hoping it would help me to cut down to only drinking on the weekend.

The book annoyed me in any number of ways (particularly the repetition), but all that has been forgiven as by the time I’d finished I found I had no desire to drink at all. So, as I type this I’ve been AF for 44 consecutive days. I’ve no idea whether the effect will last, but at the moment I’m feeling like that book was the best £3.49 investment I’ve ever made!

I’m going to step back into my corner now, but I’ll still be lurking and taking all the supportive vibes from this thread to help me on my way – and if the effect of the book does wear off at any time I’ll know where to come.

    Thank you all!
