:T well done limadelta. This really is a brilliant thread but you must take some credit yourself too. Fantastic!! and do post any time.

cleggie, all I can suggest is planning some particular distraction for the first few AF weekends. I've found something like cinema or theatre and having ice cream (keep out of the bar) at interval good or if you can't go out then just give yourself a good talking to! If you can do it in the week, you can do it at weekends. Sometimes an hour at a time until it's too late to 'waste' an AF night can work.

Af here tonight, so I calim my Valentine heart!:)

7 AFDs for February and 1 for the SNC please.

    Morning All

limadelta - Well done!! :T Like maman says, you have to take some of the credit for doing so well. It's one thing to say you are going to stop but quite another to do something about it.

The hand is ok, just a couple of sore fingers the following day. I'm just so clumsy when I'm tired

A bit of a slip in the Rainman household yesterday. He's been doing really well so I was disappointed. And it meant he was back to being an annoying muppet. He talked all the way through Whitechapel, I really had to grit my teeth so I didn't lose my temper :wall:
However, he has redeemed himself slightly by leaving a Valentines card for me :grinheart (I didn't get one last year so wasn't holding out much hope for this year :D)

Hope you all have a nice day today

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

  • Happy Valentines Day everyone :)

    13 days AF please Shaggy

Feeling much more positive and on top of things for the last couple of days. So pleased to have stopped the drinking and smoking - I feel like I've been given my body back. Am going to start trying a bit of yoga and maybe even dare to venture out of the house and join a pilates group

Just had to say lizzyb and peterbunny - you are both doing so very well....I love to see your posts and find you very inspirational in your own ways.

Cleggie - after reading your post I had thought Maman was the best person to answer - and she did (spot on :)). Maybe remember back to the early days when we used to think out pamper evenings and nice stuff to reward a hard week instead of drink. If you ever have any spare reading time (probably not with your degree) an easy and good read is the Allen Carr book - Easy Way to control alcohol (see Limadeltas' post), it's only a couple of quid and a really really good read about alcohol in our lives - just read the reviews on amazon to inspire you.

Limadelta - hello :) totally agree about the Allen Carr book, I learnt so much about alcohol from it. As a heavy drinker I needed some of the AA books when I stopped drinking but the Allen Carr book is brilliant. Well done you :T

Mrs R - poor you with your hand, tiredness makes us do silly things, I was cooking fudge and pasta last night and poured the boiling water into the fudge instead of the pasta :o kids thought it was hilarious :rotfl:
I fully sympathise with the drunk OH talking through tv programmes....it drives me crazy  so I normally go into another room

    (((Hugs))) to anyone in need.
Rachel thinking of you, hoping you're ok, stay strong...
MollyPolly - how lovely to see you pass by, I've heard of you and your wisdom from others on this thread :)

    Another AF here.
Struggling a bit at the moment. Would really like to stop drinking every weekend (fri or sat), but it seems that i am quite happy to say i have found my stop button and leave it at that.
but actually, although i know its good to have found that stop button, i would like to not drink apart from maybe once a month.

    Any advice?
Give yourself a big pat on the back for achieving what you have first :T Then, as maman says, distraction- especially the bit about putting off having a drink for an hour at a time until it's too late to spoil an AF evening

I thought I’d just step out of the corner where I’ve been lurking for the last month or so and say ‘hello’ and ‘thank you’ to all of you nice people on this thread. Without this thread I would no doubt be sitting here with a glass of wine right now.

Well done - 44 days! Am quite jealous - well not really, we all do this in our own ways :rotfl:

crazymum - thanks for the kind remarks. I look to you as my example of what personal determination can achieve :T

13 out of 13 AFD in February Shaggy please

The rain has shifted the last of the snow and ice and it should be dry today, so lots of garden tidying is the order of the day today.

    Good luck all

Very romantic start to the day....Working from home but still in my pjs because have been disinfecting the house all morning before work in case it is the dreaded nv. • Hi all and thanks for all the well wishes xx. I have so far only managed a pathetic 1 AFD so far this month.

Mum was in hospital for 12 days with an infection and came out last monday. Then yesterday she had to admitted again but this time to the specialist hospital in London which is well over an hour away from us. Was absolutely exhausted yesterday as it was a very long day. She should be having her op today and hopefully they'll find where the infection is and wether or not the can cure it, which the last hospital did not. She was very confused last night, not surprising as in the morning her temperature had been over 39 again.

I probably won't go up tonight as I didn't see the boys yesterday, but will try to tomorrow after work. I have no idea about what my alcohol consumption will be this month. All I know is that I'm very stressed, but it still helps 'chatting' to you guys xx
