Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Well I achieved quite a lot yesterday, I cleared the study of all the paperwork, filed all the important stuff, binned the rest, hubby & I have also decided to get rid of most of our books, now we have our kindles, much as I love books, it seems silly to have shelves full of them when neither of us can read them. I've checked the prices on ebay & most are only 1p, so I will take them to the local charity shop, they include all the Terry Pratchett & all the Lee Childs, so hopefully they will sell well.
I shan't get much done today as I am going to collect hubby from work at lunchtime today as he has loads of his own tools at work & cannot bring them home on the train.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all to follow
I have an hour left of work, and then I am off for a week, I dont plan on doing anything particularly productive, just catching up on sleep, tidying my place up and depending on how I feel, I might do some crafts.
Had a great day with the children today, we made chocolate, well melted chocolate, and put it into moulds, but they had loads of fun. It was the end of their camp and some of the kids who barely speak any English came up and thanked me at the end :A:j:A
I am going to my knitting group this evening. Haha the life of a 27 year old :rotfl: waiting for my friend to arrive from the south of the country and then tomorrow we are off to Seoul for NYE.
I hope everyone has a great day, and a happy new year :beer:0 -
Morning :santa2:
Mr tru rescued the breadmaker, saying that as it works he'll find someone who wants it. But it's rubbish! If you're lucky you might get one decent loaf for every five you make.
I noticed that the floor was wet under the washing machine - just as well it's wood, if it was a carpet I wouldn't have noticed for months. He immediately declared that we should buy a new machine and started comparing prices online. I said pull the machine out and check the connection and hoses - oh no, it won't be those, it's the machine. We had to move the machine anyway, to let the floor dry out and it turned out the Y connector had split. Total repair cost - just under a fiver.
I don't know what's wrong with him lately, if there's anything that needs buying/fixing, he looks for the most expensive option.
I have a new book called Spade, Seed & Supper - An Allotment Year by Martin Spice. I've only flicked through it so far but it's really funny. I'll get stuck into it today. The author is one of our customers, we got hold of it before it went into the shops and it's signed, made out specially to me :T
I'm going to see what other useless things I can sling out today while mr tru is at workIf he's around and sees me, he has wonderful reasons why he needs to keep things. If he's not here, he doesn't realise things are gone.

Morning!
So today we have to travel to my mum's (40 miles away!) to collect her parcels from the post office (if they sit more then 2 weeks then they get sent back!!!). DS was supposed to go to his dad's this weekend, but he's still poorly... so I have to make this journey just for parcels! All I keep thinking about it the petrol money I could have saved, and since I will let my Ex have DS next weekend instead it's going to cost me more in petrol
Yesterday I got my Herbal Heartburn pills... so I am set! Just wish I didn't need them every time I got a Braxton Hicks!
Tomorrow we are going to take down the decorations and the tree! Something wrong there! I NEVER take it down before the 6th January, but I just feel that if the baby comes I want a clean house and the truth is it's driving me crazy!!! (I think I am nesting )
OS-wise... washing will be done today, and dinner will be leftovers!
Hope you all have a wonderful day xWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
Morning everyone
Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Drying underfoot here this morning. DH up and getting ready to go to work, no stupid early start today so he brought me a nice cuppa in bed. DS1 still in bed, DS2 just got up.
Funeral went as ok as these things can, there was a good crowd at the crem, he got a good send off and majority of the food was eaten, his family seemed pleased with what I had done. :A
Have the normal list of jobs "to do", will be heading to the SM - will need to buy a few bits but have over £11 of money off coupons so will be using them to spend as little as possible. Spoke to the garage yesterday my car is ready to be collected and has been fixed, bill is around £65 so not horrendous.
Must get some washing, drying and ironing done today, otherwise I won't have any clean knickers to wear!! :DWe will also be getting the tree and decs down, it always seems so bare afterwards though.
I drew the short straw for working this Saturday, we are given Saturdays to do as extras each year and we have to either work them or swap or give them away but we are responsible for doing so, I try not to work any of mine, I have several colleagues who are always on the look out for extra hours, so not too difficult to get rid of, but as it's NYE no-one wanted this one!
Better crack on.
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Morning hester and everyone
After weeks of Christmas rush, and lots of problems with grown-up kids, I've finally got a breather!Whatever I've missed, congrats or cuddles, in no particular order.
DH got car for work today, so off to town on the bus with the littlies as I need a few things for tomorrow night. Also received a clothing present for DD that I want to try and get a bigger size, too small.
Hope you all have a good day, hugs and kisses to whoever needs them, hope the weather's not unbearable where you are!

Good morning,
The house elf and I were supposed to be going to the zoo today, but it's pouring with rain so we have had a reprieve. We're going to make bath bombs instead with a kit that we have upstairs. I cleaned the house today, so finding the messiest thing in the house to do today is a natural progression right?
Lou, I think you'll find that people haven't stopped caring. Christmas is family time and the demands that people place upon their families at this time of year often mean that you end up running round like a headless chicken without even having time for yourself. I would cut your friends some slack rather than criticising them. Try looking at things from their point of view now and then maybe? It's also the school holidays, so if your friends have children then they will be busy arranging activities/social lives for them too.
JulieG You can go online and just have the parcels redelivered on a date of your choice. Saves queueing for hours at the sorting office.
Take care all of you0 -
Morning all,
I'm still feeling the effects of my cold but I'm gonna carry on regardless. I must must make a start on our tax returns. Every year I promise myself that I will do our accounts monthly. Here we are with a January deadline and I've done nothing. We rent out properties so have to list incomes out goings etc. Boring paperwork but I will make a start.
Think we will have some fish for dinner, meant to have it last night but DH wanted to use up the LO turkey curry. I'll freeze the mince pies and LO cream so that's the last of xmas food out of sight.
Hope to have time to do a pile of ironing later.0 -
Morning all!
I have just found this thread and thought I would say hi. Today I will be mostly tidying up and carry on sewing my current project on my sewing machine. I have the in-laws visiting tomorrow so more gift exchanging etc. Need to give this house a good clean first, but need to wait till hubby gets up (he was on nights last night) as I would hate to wake him while cleaning (I use to work nights and know how it feels to be woken).
have a great day people. :-)Proud mummy to an amazing 8 year old!0
