    Good morning all,

Up early today - woke up and couldnt get back to sleep!

No NSD yesterday, but a lo-spend day - had fleabay items to post and I bought a sandwich for lunch for the first time in ages. It's nice to have the odd morning off from making a packed lunch!

Yesterday, supervisor was back to her old tricks, very stressful day!
The prob was that no one covered my stuff last week when I was off, so I spent the last three days playing catch up. Then she expected us to go to a 90min firm meeting which was scheduled to last 30mins after my finish time. I told her :
    A) I was too busy to spend all that time standing in a mtg room listening when I could dial in and listen on a headset
    b) I would be leaving at 5pm as Id been in since 8am and only had 15min for lunch
    c) I wanted to leave everything in a fit state for the girl who covers my work when Im out

Of course, although I know I was right to say what I did, I am all worried incase I get hauled over the coals on Monday when I go back:(

She is very much a "rules" person and I'm not, so that is why we clash a lot of the time. I really need stop getting so wound up, it's not good for me!

Out with some pals last night at a discussion group which was really good - no spends!

Today I have a small shop to do at A$da, then weigh-in. I am hoping to get to goal today, I need to have lost 1.5lbs, so fingers crossed! If not, well there's always next week;)

I also have a top to take back to Deb$, so will have a wee mooch around this morning.

Sorry, for all the ranting - I'm just tired and wound up this morning;)

    I'll be back later!

    Have a lovely day everyone:)

    Hi jinty

I couldn't let this pass without comment as it reminds me so much of the position I was in between 2000 and 2004.

You were 100% right to stick to your guns. As Cheryl says below, if you had backed down you would have made a precedent for yourself and she would have expected you to accommodate her every time.

Well done for standing up for yourself and please try not to worry about Monday. You were thinking about your workload and your colleague covering for you - which is more than anyone does for you from the sounds of it - and you should be commended for doing so.

The last thing you need is stress so please try to not get wound up about her, if you do then she's won.

Well done for the continued weight loss and hope you had a lovely day mooching.

    (((hugs)))

Payment's gone this morning - I've never been so relieved to see money go out of my bank account :rotfl:

Another D/Debit's gone out as well.... just 2 more to go this month. 5 days left in month, potential for 2 to have D/Debits go out (they sometimes go the same day, but one's a 'floater' so I can't guarantee it), leaving 3 potential NSDs.

I'll grab milk today as that's the 1 grocery item I know I need before month end, and then once I know what chap and I are doing at the weekend (no longer tied to the house waiting on call from DD, so may go out somewhere - he's been really patient and understanding about my not wanting to be far from home this last few weeks) I'll know whether I need to get any more food in or not (should really be able to get away with what I have in, but it depends on what I feel like making for him). If I do it'll lose me an NSD on (probably) Saturday.

Means I should manage to reach target+1. But if the D/Debits go out the same day I could get to target+2, and if I don't get any food in for the weekend I could be on target+3 which is almost double my original target :D

Good news on the breakdown cover, Cheryl:T

Your chap sounds a star and well worth holding onto :)

And of course you can make target +3 - that's what we've come to expect from you :D

Jinty - I think you did exactly the right thing. If you'd backed down yesterday you'd have been back to square one when it came to what they expected you to do 'above and beyond' !!!

You're right. I was shopping regularly but doing bits here and there as well and what's happened is that I've really tightened it up. I know I'm spending less and it's also helping in terms of sorting out my food intake (allergies/intollerances and an intention gently to lose weight over a couple of years without feeling as if I'm on a diet). By focusing my shopping all on one day when I make sure that I shop on a full tummy(!) and with a list I stick to, I've stopped all casual snacks and treats buying without realising it. So I suppose my 6 in a rows do count after all.:D

This month I've been counting spend days as all food and non-food shopping, purchases on Amazon (I have a small amount of credit on my account from vouchers but never use a card online), fuel for the car, mobile top-up and bills that have been delivered by post. I think I'm going to keep it like this for next month as well. It's an achievable goal.:D

I hope I'm not speaking too soon but focusing on NSDs is clearly working for me at the moment and I think it's because it's taken the panic away from keeping to a budget, driving ever more economically, ensuring that we are all fed while on the move (endless packed lunches and suppers), getting the mobile costs down, losing weight... and put my attention on the challenge of only spending once a week. Does that make sense?

It's also given me a different kind of excuse to say to my sons that I'm not going to go shopping for more milk (or whatever) and that everyone needs to help make stuff last. They are very good about this anyway but it's given them a clearer goal too.

That's a brilliant idea - thank you so much - I can see how I might solve the problem now. :T

There you are Broomstick, when you think about it properly your 6 in a row definitely do count. I bet if you started keeping a spending diary you'd be shocked/surprised at how much less you're spending per month - I know I was.

And your comment makes perfect sense. It's so easy nowadays to nip to a shop/supermarket for a pint of milk and end up spending £10/£20 on nothing much.... if you stop doing that you'll soon see a change.

I'm really pleased you're seeing some benefits, comments like that make running this challenge a pleasure - it's nice to feel that it's helping xx

Happily NSD 14 today - 4 more to go, can I make it?

Yes, of course you can.. we're all behind you, go for it!!!:T
    Thanks Spoon ..... love prizes:D

    Guess what .... No 15 & target & 5 in a row today!:j

Well you have another one today, rising, Eeyore is all yours:j:j:j

    Well done you!!!
Sad about doglet but I need to find the right one - s/he is out there waiting ..... (hope it's soon).

You'll find the right doglet soon, I'm sure.
    (((hugs))) xx
Having pooter issues so if I disappear - that's why.

Laptop is asking for ISP authentication ID/password - it's automatically filled in (chose the "remember me" option) but isn't accepting it . Upstairs pooter (where I am) isn't in the best of health ..... (rarely used now). The strange thing is that it also asked for the ID/password, also on automatic remember .... but it worked :(

Eeek.... hope you get that sorted

thats my first target reached this month but won't get the 4 in a row:(. Still having problems with my MSE connection since the new site so still haven't cuaght up with the thread. Hope everyone is ok.

(((hugs))) QueenB., you've had a bit of a rough month with one thing and another. Let's hope February is better for you. xx

Woohoo I made it!! NSD #15 for me today please! Feeling a bit more positive today, got some jobs lined up to apply for. My OH pointed out that I might as well go for it - even though I'm not sure what I do want to do, I know that I very definitely don't want to make a career where I'm working now.

    Pink x

Glad you're feeling a bit more positive today, Pink. Good luck with the applications xx
