Don't be annoyed, like Lois said, the arrangement fees were high for the financial benefit you would have gained from moving to FD anyway.
Just read what you've been up to with volunteering etc ~ sounds great & obviously very worthwhileYour smoothies sound interesting as well ~ I might just try them myself

The smoothies are a great way to get fruit and veg and delicious too.
Im not bothered about FD at the moment really, it was just a thought. In the back of my mind I sort of knew they wouldnt take WTC even though halifax did last year when I was looking to move.MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

I do like smoothies, just never had a green one before
I think I'll try the spinach as I know what that looks like, unlike the kale
I wonder when we get our letter from the H@lifax advising us on the new SVRI'm annoyed as I've only been on 3.5% for 4 months, was hoping it would be a bit longer before they put the rates up!!

I have been on SVR for a while now, 2 years this feb I think.
If you put berries in the smoothie (i use frozen berrie mix) then it doesnt go green, it goes a dark purple (sometimes even a chocolaty colour depending on what else I put in).
Kale is quite curly. Its not kept in the same place as spinach (think spinach is kept with the salad stuff and Kale in bags with the cabbages etc)
Kale is supposed to be the superstar veg -kale info here apparently helps to beat cancer, help digestion, has loads of vitamins and helps lower cholesterol!!
Just been reading about the spinach and to make sure it is washed properly to stop the risk of E-coli. I will definitely be washing it much better than just rincing it under the tap!!MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

Hi Pammy, shame about the FD mortgage, they turned me down too due to not enough earnings so we have stayed where we are now (chelsea), you read how much harder it is to get a mortgage, but at least expect to be allowed to borrow what you currently owe, oh well.
Best of luck with the timebank, hope you are well.:DMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
That sounds like an excellent idea. I will check whether there's one in our area. Not sure DHs DIY skills would be much use though

Just rang FD and they would not take me on as I work part time and get WTC, they only base it on actual wages. grrrrrr. am really annoyed now.
I moved to First Direct last year. Fairly sure they took my WTC into account (although could be wrong!). What they wouldn't do was let me take the term I wanted - I think I wanted the mortgage over 12 years, the payments for which I could easily afford. However, they said with my earnings I could only take it over 19 years.
I did move to them anyway, and took out the mortgage over 19 years, but simply set up an overpayment that goes out on the same day which would be the same as me paying the 12 year payment if that makes sense? Also chucked a bit extra at it, but not very much, as going on an expensive holiday this year (again!).
Stuff you are doing with homestart etc sounds great, well done.0 -
Thanks I did think about ringing them again as I am not sure whether he assumed I was a FTB or remortgaging or that my mortgage would be 50% LTV. Will try again anyway. I remembered yours going up in years and thought I might have to do that but I would do exactly as you did.
Where are you off too this year LS? We are going good old skeggy lolMPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

Nothing wrong with Skeggy, and thats one of the reasons you're doing so fantastically well with your mortgage!
I on the other hand caught the cruising bug last year, which is fatal, and not to mention expensive! Going on another disney cruise, New York to the Bahamas, then got 4 nights in New York afterwards. Lots of money which probably would have been put to better use paying off the mortgage, but hey ho! I know it will be fantastic, and can't wait.
Will also be camping lots as well to try and redress the balance!0
