The 'extra payment every week' challenge

Hi everyone, I've been lurking...and gleaning inspiration from everyone on this site! I've done my snowball, I've got the debt free app for my phone which I'm checking religiously (at least twice a day for some reason, despite not adding any payments?!) and I thought I'd join you in making those little (or hopefully big) payments that add up to so much. My debt his huge for a single parent and I'm panicking but feel under control (so long as I keep myself under control with the spending
)
Anyway, I'm gonna start as I mean to go on and chuck £7.49 at my Capital One card...the high interest one that I've had since I was eighteen and that is now in teenie tiny pieces at the bottom of my (rather wiffy, no chance I'm going back in there for it!) bin.. The odd £7.49 is me rounding down my balance so I'm only dealing with round numbers, much easier as clearly I have issues with numbers!
If I can avoid default charges this month, and not go over the limit on my other cards and overdraft then I should be (fingers v crossed!) able to stick to the snowball....possibly....hopefully!
I'm so pleased I've finally joined you all...it's so daft that it actually takes a bit of courage to post?!DMP'ing it...0 -
Hi everyone. I haven't posted for a couple of weeks but I have been reading and I just love this thread. Everyone seems so positive and you really can feel the support. I am sure you will love it too tpxxx. What is the debt free app you mentioned? Do you know if it is available for a Blackberry? I'm not very good with technology.
Anyway, I have also been snowballing and if I have the discipline to follow it through I should be debt free April 2016. Thats a whole 17 months earlier than I was aiming for and thats without extra payments. I wonder if I could manage it for December 2015. I've printed it off to refer to regularly and now I'm off to find some extra money to make an extra payment.0 -
Hi TPXXX Nice to see you have joined us and are now on the road of the converted and sorry to say slightly Brainwashed :rotfl:

Thanks Betty I know it was amazing I really couldn't believe it.
My friend was recommended to this man who has a really good reputation and she told me she was having him round and did I want to go.I said I haven't got much just a bit of cr*p broken jewellery so she pestered me to sort it out. Much to my disgust I had to move everything in the garage to find it and got so fed up nearly gave up.
Then on Wednesday I thought I really cant be bothered to go But reluctantly went and thank God I did.:D
He paid me in £50 notes which was nice but then I had to go as I had to take the dog to the vets so left before she got her price.
She rung me later to say she got over £2000 and he had to go to the cash machine to pay her as we both said we didn't have much to sell:rotfl:
The very best thing was when the vet said sheepishly that will be £114.56 . I never had to worry where the money was coming from.:D For once ! Mav x
Debt free and Mortgage free thank you to all for your encouragement and advice :j

Hiya, thank you for the welcome everyone!..
I'm sorry Princesspoor, I don't know about blackberrys, I barely have the brain power to use my iphone properly (i'm sure it's cleverer than me!:o) I just searched for debt apps and it's called 'debt free' (catchy title I thought;)) I did spend a whole 69p buying it but I figure it's money well spent (unlike most of my previous purchases:rotfl:)
I'm clearing out my purse/sofa/pockets into a jar for 'payments every day' challenge which goes into a jar till the end of the month (I thought my bank would think me weird for transferring 12p to my credit card?!) and my payment a week is by keeping my current account balance at a neat round number to make next week's calculations easier - a few squid at a time...every penny helps!DMP'ing it...0 -

Hi thanks Mavvymoo - I thought this month I really was going to have to rob peter to pay paul by taking cash out on one credit card to pay the minimum on another EEEK this was after paying about £300 out on payday to get them all back within their limits  It's ok though...I'm here now!DMP'ing it...0 -
More extra payments made today - £200 to the CC and £25.11 to the car loan.0

Brilliant news about the gold and silver mavvymoo :T.
I've made £4.98 in overpayments this morning, again just to make my balance look tidier. Can't believe it's September already! When we started this challenge it seemed like a lifetime away and I had no idea I would've paid off over £500 by now without really missing it!!
