Really found myself in the zone with this weight loss challenge....scales showed a further (unofficial) loss on monday.

But today is my birthday and we have been out for tea..not made good choices sadly, steak, chips and 2 glasses of wine (I'm pretending I didn't eat the sponge and custard..oops)

Will be good tomorrow but then another meal (and drinks) out on Friday with friends. Think the scales may not be so happy come Friday

Admission - on clearing out the kitchen cupboards yesterday I found a big bag of tortilla chips and 2 jars of dips, one sour cream & chive, one mild salsa which were bought at Christmas but didn't get used. Thought the salsa one would be less damaging so opened and tried it but it nearly blew my head off - definitely not mild:eek:. Then tried the s/cream & chive, it was very yummy...after about 20 chips with the dip I had to force myself to stop. They're now in a bag to give to neighbour's DD :o

I love your post :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: It wasn't enough that the hot stuff blew your mind, you had to happily munch through chips and sour cream & chive as well.... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: you were really good on giving the rest to the neighbour... :A

It was all such a natural thing to do.... and a lesson to us all not to clear out any cupboards in the near future... I could see myself doing exactly the same if I cleared out a cupboard and found biscuits in it... :)

By the way, sparrer, do you have much more cleaning to do or is that you done all your spring cleaning ????
  • I am not part of this thread normally but wanted to post as todayI have had a break through.

1st Jan 2011 I started on my weight loss journey.

By February 2012 I lost nine stone all by myself through healthy eating and gentle exercise. When the weight loss dried up I joined the gym. I then tore my tendon four weeks in and had six weeks off. I then lost my job and left the job. Two months later I broke my foot, had surgery to have plates ands crews fitted and was non weight bearing for 10 weeks, off work for three months. Now six months later I have joined the gym at work and got a programme from one of the trainers. I am in horrific pain all of the time so my programme is very gentle for the first eight weeks and then we will review and up it to what I can achieve then.

I feel my breakthrough has come in that I am now getting back on track. I want to lose more weight (didn't put any on since Feb last year as weigh four pounds less since last weigh in) and clothes fit the same. This time I am keeping all of my measurements each week as well as taking my weight.

I feel with the support of the gym at work that I can manage my pain, get my old life back and continue on my road to weight loss heaven!!!

I would love to join this thread more often but need to have a coue of weeks in the gym first. This is a very motivating thread!
    Since 1st January 2013:-
£430 from the sale of old jewellery
£50 from sale of old mobile phone
I will do that much over due carboot sale!
Back on mega weight loss regime. Lost 9 stone in two years all by myself. Now I am BACK ON IT!!!
  • Anyway, I have had a really bad few days... I suddenly felt unsure of myself to such an extent that I was getting that horrible feeling in my stomach... It was really churning.. I know the reason... It is because my father-in-law is in hospital and they phoned me up to find out if they thought he should go back home... He's getting very confused and my mother-in-law is very frail (she's 90) and I had to say that I believed she wouldn't be able to cope as he was refusing carers to go in and help.. and I was feeling bad that I might be responsible for splitting a couple up that had been married for 60+ years... and then my son came to visit and I let it out of the bag about a surprise trip his dad has arranged for him... I just felt I wasn't able to function .. I also have a 5 month kitten upstairs, that I am working with and trying to get her confident so that she can be homed... but she still doesn't trust me enough to come out of her igloo.. and then I popped onto the wii scales this morning and I have put on a pound... It doesn't make sense as I haven't munched my way through anything that could account for it unless you can eat too much fruit....

But I felt that I must shake myself out of this and get myself together again... So I found a letter I was looking for and then I lost it again 2 minutes later and I still haven't found it... so I thought go on the forum... and then I read Sparrer's post and I started laughing.... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I have to force myself off my butt some days OG. By keeping moving it prevents fluid building up and setting off another bleddy ci . I can't do much in the way of exercise so housework in the winter, a little gentle gardening (most done it tubs) in better weather keeps the bellows reasonably clear.

    Morning,

I have realised I'm married to a 'feeder'. It's only taken me 16 years to realise this. Did reasonably well yesterday only for DH to pour me a large glass of white wine and get out the tortilla chips at 10pm last night  I refused the wine on account of it giving me the snuffles (anyone know why this is?) but couldn't resist the chilli tortillas :o

Have a headache this morning (should've just had the blasted wine) and feel slightly queasy, so I'll vow to be extra good today.

    Food for today:
B - micro porridge, ss milk, tea
L - depends how I feel later, but probably wm roll with ham
D - hm shepherds pie, green beans, brocolli
S - tin of mandarins, apple
    E - 2 mile dog walk/school run, housework

    Have a good day everyone

Well done in losing all that weight in the first place  After all that has happened to you, I am surprised that you have kept it all off..:j

It gives me motivation to carry on as you have shown that you can lose a lot of weight in a year... so here's hoping...

    ;)

I have the same problem in that the only exercise I can do in the winter is the housework and the wii... I have an old victorian house so I try to go up and down the stairs 20 times in a day but fortunately I will be able to work in the garden... I'll be starting soon ... just a few more weeks (about end of Feb) and I'll be out there digging and shifting and cutting and planning....

I hope that this year is a lot drier than last year... All that rain and dampness couldn't have done your health a lot of good...

Anyway, you take care of yourself and keep my cheery with all your posts

I thought I was married to a feeder too when DH "sabotaged" the start of my better eating habits by baking every day! (well it seemed like it).

As for alcohol and snuffles there is some evidence that alcohol increases vasodilation and so can enhance either infection and or allergy symptoms - scuze the ickiness factor here but if it is infection based there will be colour to the output and if it is more allergy based then it will be clear.

Some people find an anti-allergy tablet before drinking helps ;), some find water helps, some actually get such a bad reaction they have to stop drinking .... some find repeated exposure limits the symptoms. :T

I seem to be in the zone this week, not feeling too hungry and actually enjoying the second week of the classes I have signed up to. Worried that in 2 weeks time I have a 3 day conference to attend and these are usually calorie heavy affairs. :o

Hi all, hope we're all doing ok :)

I managed to lose 1 lb last week after a really bad week but I think I may see the consequences this week instead - I'm not sure, but I feel like I may not have lost anything this week despite hovering around 1000 calories every day and more like 800 today :(

I have my first wedding dress fitting on Saturday! eek! I wanted to lose as much as possible by then...nevermind...

Hope everyone else is doing ok and good luck for the weigh in tomorrow!
