After an hour and 20 minutes in the doctors' waiting room with 3 small children, I came home and stuffed my face with mini marshmallows. Literally stuffed, I stood in the kitchen shovelling them in as fast as I could. I don't even like them really. And some cake mix. I am trying to break my sugar addiction... it is fine until I am under stress! I only feel sick and guilty now. I can finally see how hard my DH had it when he was giving up Heroin... in fact, this is worse, sugar is EVERYWHERE I look!
I found some advice here
http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutrition_articles.asp?id=1663
about giving up sugar. Wish me luck! I can't actually get rid of all the sugar filled foods as DH and the children eat them too (currently trying to reduce their sugar intake too, but I will have a riot on my hands if I do it all in one go!).June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Part of the problem is that we've bought a big house that needs lots of work doing and we're on a budget. OH gets the exercise from doing all the work. I don't get the exercise I used to get because we can't afford to go out and have the active social life I used to have.
Other part of the problem is OH has a sweet tooth. In a bid to save money I've been doing some baking. I can ignore shop-bought goodies but I feel it necessary to sample homemade.
So where do I start? I think I need to reconnect my Wii fit to up the exercise. We've started a 10,000-steps-a-day challenge at work today so hopefully that'll help. I also need to reduce the portion sizes for my main meals and reduce the snacking on baked goodies. Any other suggestions? The grocery challenge thread has helped me rein in my spending so now I need help with my calorie consumption. Can I use this thread as my conscience in that respect?
Thanks in anticipation...
Hello Sonastin, welcome to the thread.minicooper272 wrote: »Welcome Sonastin! I blame men for all of it. They get to eat 500 more calories a day than you, and you feel determined that every meal should be fair and equal. Instead of men eating less, you eat more. Plus they don't see the problem with brining home take aways and crisps.
Have you tried the 30 day shred? It is on you tube. The exercise is 20 mins and then there is the cool down so it takes about 1/2 an hour. I think it is so good I'm going to buy the video (my internet is a little slow too, so sometimes I'm left doing one exercise for ages whilst the pc is buffering)
Can I join your 10,000 steps a day challenge? Don't know how many I do now but it must be way less than that since I stopped work.LittleMoog wrote: »Morning all

2 weigh ins left of this challenge. New challenge to follow on immediately so get thinking caps on. I think I will aim to lose a stone in the next challenge (unless a miracle happens and some comes off this week, not looking good so far!), like Rosewood I am reading Dr Briffa and really liking his approach, it makes sense and is certainly Old Style as there's no processed foods, no Low Fat foods, no 'meat alternatives' etc.
At the moment, breaking my carb/sugar addiction is more important than actually weight loss as I will never achieve the latter without dealing with the former.June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

I think she just meant that she wasn't sure her answer was correct and someone else might know better. Things can look very abrupt in print."Never ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence."Weight loss challenge:j: week 1~ Napoleon Bonaparte

So, tea tonight will have to be good one - will have a think about it. Maybe some veggie sausages and salad?

Haven't tried the shred yet - only just heard about it on this thread - but I'm certainly going to give it a go. OH won't let me connect the Wii to his super-expensive-extra-large Sony TV so Wii fit is going to have to wait until we've got a bit more space to get my cheap-rubbish TV out. By which time we'll also have space for the concept rowing machine to come down from the loft too :T
You're certainly welcome to join the walking challenge. The official challenge at work is, between those of us signed up for it, to "walk to the moon" They have worked out how many steps that is, how many people we need and that we need to do 10,000 steps each between now and xmas. It started on Monday and we've already found out that the pedometers are less than reliable. The one I had on yesterday was counting every 3rd or 4th step which explains why the count was so low  Today, I have 2 on. Both put on at the same time this morning and one now reads 3017 and the other says 2121. Guess which one I'll be reporting for today! I'm tempted to add the 2 together :rotfl:
Breakfast today - 2 slices of toast with HM lemon curd. Must get down to once slice
Lunch - HM roll with YS luncheon meat and coleslaw, crisps, apple, yoghurt
Dinner - supposed to be HM pizza
Snacks - none yet... ate them all at lunchtime! Out tonight so a small glass of wine but probably no snacking :T0 -
Evening All
I'm sat here in my dressing gown as I was out for a walk when the heavens opened and I got absolutely drenched! So I've had a lovely hot bath and am not going to bother getting dressed again. DH is away so I might as well.
B: 2 boiled eggs mashed with butter, salt and pepper.
L: Last of the HM mushrooms soup. Small portion of HM chocolate mousse.HM low carb pizza - this was an experiment and I quite enjoyed it. The base was made of grated cauliflower mixed with quark and an egg and baked for 15 minutes. I then topped it with a HM tomato sauce made from 2 soft tomatoes cooked and mixed with a tsp of tomato puree and some red pesto. I topped it with some left over cooked spinach, grated cheese and chestnut mushrooms cooked in garlic butter and then put it back in the oven for another 10 minutes. I served it with some pickled beetroot and a spoonful of HM red onion marmalade. It was very tasty and there is half left for tomorrow.
Exercise: 10.5km run/walk - 3 min run/1 min walk repeated. 2 mile walk. I may do some strength exercises later if I feel like it - adapted from some of the Jillian Michaels DVDs.
