I struggle with finding cheap protein sources too - it's a matter of taste but I tend to buy tinned mackerel/sardines in tomato sauce - costs about 49-89p a tin and is a great alternative to buying salmon/fresh mackerel (which I can rarely afford). Some people detest tinned fish though so it's not for everyone.
I like to have them with cous cous and salad vegetables, or some rice and frozen veg. I like to supplement chicken as well with chickpeas or other beans/pulses - a lot more satisfying than I initially though I would be! I chuck them in soup or cous cous again.
Trying to find cheap fresh veg is a nightmare though as I live in central London and have no markets around me...I tend to find Lidl the best though.0 -
Happy Good Friday all...
Had a dreadful start to the day having pan di stelle (Italian chocolate
biscuits) and milk for breakfast (my OH is Italian and loves a sweet breakfast), but hope to go for a long walk with the dog in a minute.0 -

Right my starting weight is 10st 6lbs (although as previous mentioned I did start a couple of weeks ago and have so far lost 5lbs :T)
Im 5ft 5 so at the upper limit of correct weight for my height but im so uncomfortable!! I met my other half 11 years ago and weighed 9 stone so quite a difference. I want to lose 13lbs this challenge and my end aim is prob about 9st 4lbs.
A quick tip for people with a sweet tooth- cinnamon the ground kind not the sticks!! If you sprinkle alittle onto your porridge or even on buttered toast, a baked pear or on top of your coffe its very sweet so satisfying
Good luck everyone thanks for all the tips I have picked up so far!! :beer:O/S weight loss 2.5 /10lbs (11st 8.0- 08.02)0 -
Hi all from sunny Roma
We've been skipping breakfast (laying in til 9am or even later) and having brunch, then pasta or similar in the evenings so I expect to have put on lots of weight. I have missed my hc buns though, not a single one in the shops here! We've been doing lots of walking, it's a small city to get around so once in the middle it's not far to anywhere. Today we were out for 5 1/2 hours, at least 3 1/2 of them walking, although some was just strolling round the lanes and sites.
We don't get back til Tues evening so will have a bit of catching up to do after that!
Good luck to everyone on the new challenge, and thank you ragz for everything
Hugs to all, S0 -

Well done all those that managed to loose weight over the weeks! Its been good to have fellow dieters giving me advice and encouragement when desperately needed, I am sure, that without you all, I would still be carrying that extra 5lbs around with me!

Aim to lose 10lbs:)0 -
Ragz - Dont be disheartened. Mine was only 2lbs since Christmas. I think this time of year has a lot to do with things and hopefully when summer is here we will all be a bit more motivated. I could have easily gained at least half a stone over the winter so STS is an achievement in itself x
Happy Easter xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

OK, last weigh in and I'm bang on 15 stone which means a total loss of 24lb since joining this thread. I'm expecting to put a few pounds back on as I've got family and friends staying for the whole of next week but I'm going to be as good as I can be and see you all after Easter.
