Hi, Can I join pls? Been yo-yo dieting for years and always end up putting back on what i've lost and more! really want to do it properly this time, joined slimming world yesterday x
  • First day back at work today - and the lady who does the cooking had 3 beautiful cakes she'd bakes sat in the kitchen area:eek::eek: (fortunately these were orders and not for staff consumption).

B 2 wheat bisks + milk and sprinkle of half spoon
L Slice of toast with baked beans
    Banana for afternoon snack
D Handful of chunky oven chips with quorn sausage and poached egg (can almost convince myself I'm having a fry up with this).

    Small plates help too.

20 minutes on the Wii when I got home from work to burn off a few calories.

Already feeling better as I'm not constantly chugging sugary biscuits/cakes and having sugar rushes.

Will hope to weigh on Friday when I do my Wii session.
  • Evening all :) Have been using my fitness pal to track my calories... only on day 2 with it but seem to be doing ok so far. Thought I'd try and get to grips with it this week so knew what I was doing for when the challenge officially start!! :p

Have been using the personal trainer on the wii and have managed to do sessions the last few days. Have been feeling a bit guilty about not taking the dog for proper walks the last day or so but the weather has been that horrid I really couldn't face doing the 45 minute loop and have just been taking him round the block. At least if I'm doing something on the wii too it makes me feel less like I've spent the whole day on the sofa!!

Right off to tidy the kitchen before heading out to brave the weather with the pup!!

    tink x

    Hi all,

So nice to see so many people getting involved in this (and some of you also newish forumites like me!) Weighed myself yesterday, just so I had some idea what to expect on Friday, to find I'm at my highest ever weight (16st 4lb) - I've never been this big, not even when pregnant. At 5' 3" that's a really high BMI.
I am absolutely committed to doing something about this now; and in a sensible OS-style way. The posts so far have been so positive and supportive that I feel really good about this, and look forward to getting to know you all.

Good luck to everyone, for those starting on the 6th and those who have already made a start and are looking for results then.

  • For goodness sake! Even with new batteries my scales don't work. This being OS though I won't rush out and buy new ones, I'll weigh myself at my friends. I weighed yesterday with my jeans, jumper, boots etc on so I'll use that weight ~ at least I'll know how much I've lost even though my starting weight is about 6lbs more than I thought.......... I guess that means my end weight can be 6lbs more though :)

MFP also tells me I can have 1570 calories a day which looks very high to me...... any ideas anyone? I'm guessing it's because I'm very overweight and as I lose weight the calorie allowance will go down. Still looks a lot.

Anyway, welcome to everyone new..... it's good to have company on any journey!

I am sorry I haven't posted yet. I am still waiting to get my scales back from someone. I have started my diet though.
Today I am planning to eat:

B: 1oz porridge oats mixed with frozen summer fruits and then cooked in the microwave. 2 tablespoons of total 0% fat yoghurt stirred through once cooked.

    S. fresh pineapple

    L. Egg, beetroot and orange salad and small baked potato

    D. Quorn cottage pie (topped with sweet potato and parsnip) and cabbage, shape yoghurt

Ate sensibly yesterday and went for a swim. Planning a 40 min walk today.

I'm on 1400 a day calories on there and I feel that is too high. I think it is to do with your weight and how active you are during the day as to how many calories you're allowed. I think. ;)

I'm actually going to track my calories today on mfp as well as the smaller portion plate.

Can I just give a big thumbs up for using the smaller plate. It really leaves you in control of what you're eating without feeling like you're missing out. It means I am not slaving away cooking for my family, meals that I cannot have 'cos I'm on a diet. Family meals as ever. I'm having my blips *confession - the 2 choc digestives I was going to have in my cuppa yesterday turned into 5 lovely ones. I enjoyed them, it helped me relax and I don't feel quilty because I am aware of what I'm consuming. I'm making my own choices. That probably sounds so daft and not the attitude to have when losing weight but I know I am going to get there, albeit slowly.

I'm having a cuppa with a slice of toast before the school run.
