    I think on SW fruit is a free food, so you can eat as much as you want. if you decide to stop SW and start calorie counting/reducing intake, it would be worth working out how many calories are in what you're having.

    For what it's worth, I normally have 3 portions of fruit and 2 veg per day, although I think it should probably be the other way around. Typical day for me is a handful of grapes (def more than 10!), couple of satsumas, an apple, or whatever random fruit we got in our veg box this week!

    Yes fruit/veggies are all free foods on the SW plan. I am just concerned about the sugar in the fruit? I have for certain replaced sweets & chocolates with fruit instead and am really enjoying fruit at the moment. I honestly cant get enough pineapple and raspberries. they are just so good :D. . On top of that too much fruit is bad for your teeth? I know its a silly worry to have especially as fruit has lots of goodness in.

    Good quality dark chocolate is comparatively low in sugar and there is mounting evidence that it can be beneficial for you in a range of problems (heart disease, diabetes, cancer, memory, blood pressure etc). So I make a point of enjoying chocolate and, as a low carber, I opt for the very strong dark chocolate of 85% or more, I even have 99% choc and while I accept most people wouldn't like it that strong, I'm accustomed to it. (And yes, it's arguably better for your teeth because it melts rather than sticks in the crevices :D)

    Hi All, it’s been another lovely warm day here so I decided to get out in the garden and wage war on the dandelions, they seem to be the one thing that grows really well here. I remember River Cottage Hugh doing something with them; it was likely to be alcohol so will probably give that a miss.

    I've also been busy planting up some rhubarb; I got the chance to get a bit from someone else’s garden, there are some “roses” coming so I know it might be a bit late to try transplanting it but will give it a go, fingers crossed cause I love it.

    Today’s menu
    B – Boiled egg & oatcakes
    L – Toast with lite spreading cheese, cucumber & tomato. Small apple & pear
    D – BBQ Pork Belly, brown rice, green salad.
    S = 2 plums, small handful hazelnuts.

    I remember him making dandelion and burdock (aka rootbeer) but you can also use the leaves in a salad and make a preserve out of the flowers. (People with gallbladder problems / stones should take advice before consuming any.)

    Thanks daska, there are too many cats & dogs doing all sorts in and around the gardens here - the only way I manage to get some sort of fruit & veg growing is to use that micro sheeting that is intended to keep insects at bay. I know I could wash them but to be honest I still have loads of jams etc left from last summer/autumn despite giving some away to friends & neighbours because I'm not eating any at the moment ;).
