Afternoon everyone, Happy Mothers day.
Last week flew by in another manic haze. But please put me down for a 1lb lose
I did fit 2 runs and 2 zumba classes. So Im pleased.
This week could be a diff story. We went out for an Indian last night and I got taken out for lunch today. Didn't have pudding though. (Im quite proud of myself)
Have a good weekSmile make them wonder0 -
Another lovely sunny day here today, it really makes me feel loads better and ready to get out in the garden and start to prepare the ground for planting. Although my seed potatoes are about ready to go in the ground I will probably leave them another couple of weeks as we had quite a bit of frost last night.
Todays meals =
B – F&F with apple juice (F&F on offer at @ldi, first time I've tried it and was really nice)
L – Smoked Sausage salad. Orange segments & yoghurt.
D – Baked Onion Bhajis, spicy tomato sauce, salad.
Snack = 4 dried apricots & 4 dried dates.Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
July - Grocery spends = £119.54
Aug - Grocery spends = £42.190 -
Did quite well at lunch, had a duck leg in balsamic/pancetta reduction (silly expression, why don't they just say sauce?
) with lots of sauteed potatoes and 6 green beans. No pud, fancied the crumble but it was made with liqueur and I don't do alcohol so fortunately or otherwise, went without
Hope everyone had a good Mothers Day. I had a reasonable one with my mother and will have a brilliant one tomorrow, so 'Mothering Monday', with my daughter0 -
Last night I just brushed my teeth and went to bed early once the cravings started...
I find brushing my teeth stops sweet/food cravings, unfortunately I never seem to remember at the time of cravings, just notice it after I've brushed. I may try to remember and use it as a technique this week. My teeth will be SO cleanJune Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Some great ideas and replies - many thanks.
I think I am just so used to having something sweet after a meal and in the evenings I love cake, chocolate, biccies etc.........Last night I just brushed my teeth and went to bed early once the cravings started - somehow fruit doesnt have the same appeal!
MUST TRY HARDER !
If you're really craving these things then I agree with Ragz, it sounds as if you're addicted. My personal experience is that the cravings go disappear immediately when I go low carb - leaving just the habit and the resulting problem of what do you do instead? Knitting is really good for keeping your hands occupied LOL
If you decide to give it a try you need to understand that it's a completely different way of thinking about food and your body can take a few days to adjust, you need to make sure you drink enough, and increase your salt intake to allow your body to do it easily! Understanding the science behind it can really help.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Morning all! I won't mention what I ate yesterday...
I have been thinking a lot about protein, after it was discussed the other day.
Regarding protein at breakfast (which we all know is meant to fill you up longer than carbs), for breakfast today I had low fat Greek yogurt with tinned peaches (about 200 calories in total). I was pleasantly surprised to find that my serving of yogurt (125g) contained 8g of protein (MFP has me aiming for 60 a day). I had to compare this to something to get an idea of whether it was as good as it sounded, so I compared it to an egg, which we always think of as a good protein source. An egg has 6g, so it looks like my breakfast was more filling that I thought. I always felt like yogurt and fruit wasn't a real breakfast, now I know that it can be. I usually add half a serving of muesli, but am doing without that today as I was VERY carb heavy yesterday!
So today's lesson is, yogurt is a really good source of protein, especially for breakfast!
Rest of the day will be
Lunch - Aldi tinned Lentil and Pancetta soup (124cal, 6.2g protein)
Dinner - Roast pork, roast parsnips, roast potatoes carrots and cabbage. (100g of roast pork has 28g of protein, surprisingly parsnips are 3% protein too as well as being quite high in carbs so I may not need potatoes)
Snacks - not sure yet, probably crispbreads with low fat soft cheese, grapes and maybe a post swimming treat tonight!
It's really interesting looking at the nutritional breakdown of my food diary on MFP, adding in the swimming this evening it has upped my protein target by another 23g!
Sorry for that long and complicated post!
On a totally different note, Aldi have started doing their own spray oil, £1.49 for either an Olive oil based or sunflower oil based one. It's a lot easier to use than frylight as it's a pressured canister. Great for doing roast potatoes and wedges!June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500
