3 weeks to go...
A lot of people gone MIA in the last month, hopefully some will return for the next challenge. Well done those of you who have stuck with it from the start
Next challenge... any suggestions welcome, do you want it to be shorter? Any improvements?

Sorry, couldn't get on yesterday but woohoo I can post a 1POUND LOSS. Can't believe it as I have only been moderately careful, but perhaps that is the answer.I believe that friends are quiet angels

ragz sorry to post a day late, but I had a sts .I'm reasonably happy with that anyway at this stage in the game.
I realise that I am one of those people who started with a high target, that is because it is my goal and I am focussed on that number. I do realise that it may take me a lot longer to get there but I'm fine with that.
Well done everyone who had a good result this week. Support to anyone who is struggling. Just keep trying to make healthy choices and you will get there.
Keep up the good work everyone !:T0 -
Thanks ragz, pleased I didn't speak out of turn.
Must be getting old, didn't wake up til well after my usual time this morning, after my evening out. In fact when I looked at the clock I thought it must have stopped last night, it was 11.40am:eek:
So today it's
Brunch - egg, tomato, mushrooms, sausage on toasted Danish
T - F&F, ss milk
Snacks - apple, nectarine, melon
Exercise - 30 mins done, will try to do more through the day (if I stay awake)
Enjoy your day0 -
I low carb, for health reasons. This seems to be classified as a fad diet, but the first recorded diet plan in England, followed by a Mr Banting, in the 1700s, was low carb - you can Google him. My great-grandmother, when wanting to lose weight, would cut down on bread, pastry, cakes and biscuits and that's all, according to my grandmother.
Until the advent of oral medication for diabetes, people with it had the choice of control by diet or insulin. I have found books from the Twenties and Sixties talking about low carbohydrate diets for diabetics and I've got an American low carb diet book from the 60s by Frederick Carlsson - way before Robert Atkins.
Although not doing low carb to lose weight, I've gone from size 22 to size 16 and now have excellent trigs, cholesterol and blood pressure.
Wondering if anyone has had any success following a vintage diet of any kind ?0 -
Ragz, although I am a relative newbie to the weight loss challenge and taking my own sweet time to get to my target, I think the 3 month suggestion for the next challenge is ideal. I will continue on the challenge as even after this target I still have a few pounds to lose and I find the thread keeps me focussed.
3 months would take us to the end of June when we will all be slimmer, fitter and looking fantastic in our summer togs – for some they may be new or if anything like me there’s quite a variety in the wardrobe that I haven’t been able to get into for a while .
It’s been a lovely sunny day here, I’m just back from my local supermarket and it appears that the world and his wife and children have all descended on the DIY/Garden Centre next door; a drive that would normally take me 15mins took almost 45mins .
Today’s plan =
B – Yoghurt & fruit
L – Smoked Sausage Salad
D – L/O Chicken Curry, added vegetables, brown rice.
Treat = 2 glasses white wine :beer:(it’s been a long week)Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
July - Grocery spends = £119.54
Aug - Grocery spends = £42.190 -
Thanks Ragz for updating the scores and for suggesting the next challenge. I definitely aimed too high this challenge so will set a more realistic goal for the next one!I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

I'm another low carber, due to being at very high risk of diabetes, largely due to being brought up on a carb laden vegetarian diet - trying to change the habits of a lifetime is very difficult. If you want to look at a bit more of the history Gary Taubes' lectures on youtube are interesting - calories are not created equal!Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan
48 down, 22 to go
