    Thanks Need2bethrifty.

I do take a vitamin D supplement Oct.-March because I'm not British and the whole darkness thing here really gets to me and I find that helps.

As my mum once told my Uncle when he was a guest in her house and complained about the breakfast she made: "McDonalds is down the street, I hear you can pay them for food and you don't have to do the washing up."

This has also reminded me that I used to enjoy greek yoghurt with granola for breakfast--still high in fat I guess but good protein and calcium. I might rotate that back in again over the summer.

I should really take a Vitamin D supplement (living in Scotland) but have a thing about taking tablets.

Your mum sounds like my kind of lady :rotfl:

I love full fat greek yoghurt - I'm a great believer in a little of what you fancy does you good and our bodies all need a certain amount of fat :D

STS this week. Not been being overly careful I have to admit, DS2 made scrummy biscuits and a surprise snicker bar turned up in my order from approved foods

FairyPrincess - are you sure the website was right with your protein target? MFP told me I need 60g a day, which I managed today without even thinking about it. See my food diary above. However, that is for a day without exercise, yesterday I needed a lot more, hence the eggs and bacon at breakfast. Don't think the websites account for that.

I am doing pretty well today, trying again to wean myself off the sugar addiction that plagued me all last week. Think I have managed it, but only time will tell, it is only afternoon...

Looking forward to my baked potato later though, I even have enough calories left for butter and soured cream, but I may use them for dessert instead!

Congratulations to those seeing results from their hard work this week:)

DundeeDoll, that was a good thought. I wondered this week how people on low calorie diets actually do fit in everything their supposed to--I would really struggle. However, the website was completely off on some of the foods I was going to put in. On wednesday I was making OH some scones and they smelled so good I put it in to see what the calories were--the website seemed way off so I "costed" them out. What it said was 245 I figured out was 115. Some of this is probably that I make small scones, but I make them with all butter, semi skimmed milk and normal flour and sugar.
So, I've just had a look and the range was 60-136. The most I got last week was a paltry 51. I did eat tuna that day so that is probably what did it. I will monitor it this week on my own and see what I can add in.

Good evening, I'm declaring a 2lb lossthis week, bringing my total so far to 6lbs. :D

    Today:
    B: museli with ss, coffee
L: sandwiches, nuts and dried fruit
D: pasta bake and a pork chop

    Exercise: at least 10,000 steps.

Congratulations to all the losers and sts, commiserations to any who gained. :A

Ragz: I like this challenge and threeish months is a good length for me, even though I joined late. I hope to be here from the beginning next time. Thank you for all your hard work. :)

I too like the 3 month period, any longer and I could lose interest, any shorter and I'd feel I had to rush to reach a goal, then lose heart if I didn't reach it.

The only thing I would say, and please don't take it as criticism, it that imho some are hoping to lose huge amounts in a relatively short time and finding it unachievable. Would it not be better to aim slightly lower and reach target? It might be more encouraging to see that goal getting closer. Last period I was a lb off target which spurred me on during the next one. Had I been 8 or more lbs off I think I'd have given up. Just a thought.

Didn't do too badly at the restaurant, had some chicken noodles, crispy duck, seaweed and spare ribs, then 4 little profiteroles and ice cream. Also tried a marshmallow in a chocolate fountain - ewwww _pale_, first and last time I'll do that!

    Night night, sweet dreams :)

I totally agree, I did try to stress this at the start of the challenge and have had to tell a few people to lower their targets as they were aiming way above the recommended maximum of 2lb a week. Personally I keep mine low as a) I don't have much to lose, b) I know I don't lose in certain weeks and c) I would get massively demotivated with a huge target. I know I have bad weeks and I need to know that I can have a few without ruining my chances, if I aimed for 2lb a week, then not hitting that for just a week or two would mean I would never catch up.

For those with a few stone to lose, a target of 1 stone over 3 months is safe, healthy and acheiveable. Allowing for a few weeks of STS and meaning that you will have a much better chance of actually hitting target and even exceeding it.

For those like Rosewood and I, who are down to our last little bit, half a stone is a lot more realistic.

When you think that you need to reduce your calorie intake by 500 calories a DAY just to lose 1 pound a week, unless you are really overweight (where your BMR is a lot higher) that is a big enough drop in calories to take most of us down to 1500-1700 a day, another pound a week would take us dangerously close to 1000 and mean a high risk of slowing down the metabolism, feeling starved or just giving up!

The slower you lose weight, the better. It is less of a shock to your body and your mind copes better too. You don't risk slowing down your metabolism with huge drops in calorie intake, and will still have energy and not constantly crave food. We are here to change our lifestyle and eating habits forever, not a quick fix that we can leave behind when we've got the results we want. That way, we will get and stay slim for good. :D

It has taken me over a year to get down to a size 12 from a size 16 (14 stone odd to 11 and half), which for some people seems far too slow, but it works for me.
