Did they do the cards for you there and then, or were you given the gift voucher?

I really want to do this, but am trying to avoid dragging the children to London to do it, as I get free train travel and they don't!

I would like 2 cards, plus a free carer card for me as my son gets DLA. Not done merlin passes for a while, and son only recently started getting DLA, so with the half price plus free carer it makes for a really good deal.

If anyone has had any luck buying for anyone else without them being there please let me know!

We are down in Cornwall but I am geting my Merlin half price tickets sent by post from the Sea Life centre at Gweek. They don't issue ( but can take payment for ) the Merlin tickets normally anyway, they send you an equivalent that you get done properly on your first use of the ticket( for us this will be Alton Towers in May). I could of picked this up but offered to pay the cost of recorded post (£6) to save a trip.

Havent got them yet (!) but all paid for , will let you know what turns up ! HTH

Thats interesting, thank you. I take it you mean special delivery which is £5 upwards, rather than recorded which is just an extra 70p (approx)?

Did they just take your payment over the phone? Would love to hear if this works out, would be much better than having to go to London in person! I presume I can get my carer pass for my son at any time, so if I was just to order 2 passes, then when we actually went to an attraction could sort it all out then? Definitely sounds like a great idea!
  • I bought 2 standard passes and a Premium Pass yesterday from Birmingham Sealife Centre. They were openly publicising the offer there.

Apparently it is possible to take a photograph of any people who aren't able to actually travel to the venue.

I am really excited and have started planning lots of camping trips around our merlin visits! Thankyou very much. I am also hoping that they will run the half price offer in January each year, so we will be able to renew our pass for half price next year.

From looking at the Alton Towers and Chessington websites, there is quite a lot going on in February half term. I also wondered if we can use the waterpark at Alton Towers with our passes. Does anyone know about it?

Unfortunately not - though you do get a discount - I think of 20%. Wish you did

We got ours a years ago from Warwick castle, could you have a day out there at the weekend if it's still on offer then? I'm sure it doesn't take to long to drive there from our neck of the woods, Easier than getting to London?

If it's only Legoland you visit their annual passes are currently available to buy half price online - you can also purchase the Merlin passes

    So, for clarification:

    a) Do you need to turn up in person (with all the other people you want passes for) ? Or can you phone some 'attractions' and get vouchers for the equivalent and then get the passes when it is more convenient for everyone to be together ? If so, does anyone know which 'attractions' do the voucher option ?

    b) Is there a full list of what attractions are included ? It seems to suggest in the &C's at one point that, for example, the London Dungeons aren't included but later down says they are ?

    c) Is the Legoland "afternoons only in August" restriction definitely removed for 2012 ?

Thanks oakeyrose. I decided to take the plunge today and phoned sealife in Gweek. They were moer than happy to send out the vouchers for passes by special delivery, and didn't seem to mind I lived nowhere near Cornwall!

Cost of postage was £6 for special delivery, so am expecting them tomorrow (although probably have to collect from post office as will be at work!). The lovely lady said the vouchers they send are valid for 3 months, so plenty of time to get them activated, and I can then get my carers card sorted out at the same time.

Much easier (and cheaper) than having to all go in person to London, or even drive to Warwick. :)

So tempted to do this as our plan this year is to get more UK things visited!

Does anybody know for sure that you cannot use the Tesco clubcard vouchers alongside this deal? Just a thought.....
