Lots of activity going on here today, well done everyone.

So far today I have tidied up the living room table, kitchen table and the pile of post on the sideboard in the hallway. Took over 2 hours to do this but I now feel so much better. I have shredded receipts from Christmas presents last year, recycled old catalogues and other paperwork. I also wiped all the surfaces so they are now dust free.

I have also thrown away an old lipstick, I have taken out my toiletry bag with lipsticks to use when I am off this week and those that I don't like will go in the bin.

Now off to start working on my old photo albums so far I have found 17, I have set myself a target this week to do at least 2 per day.
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
    Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j
  • Ooooh this is so inspiring! I will read back a few pages to get in the mood but I have sooooo much junk that we don't need & a small house so I can't wait to have a good sort out - today so far I've managed 3 bags of rubbish from the kids rooms but my aim is to sort through 2 drawers of my clothes as I only wear about 10% of whats in there!!

Where can I sign up for a decluttering challenge to keep me motivated ??
  • I've just read the last 5 pages of this thread - I am so impressed by all of you! I live in a small one bed flat, and it's full of stuff, mostly mine. I'm planning on seriously decluttering over the next few months - I think we may be moving in a year or so, and I don't want to have to pay to cart all my rubbish somewhere else!

If you have a garden, I would find a nice dry weekend, ask some mates/family round, get it all outside and have a garage sale. Advertise as well as you can and get people to come to you. Non of the worries of dragging it into and out of a car. No stall fees. Tea on demand. At least for a start. Then you will see what you actually have, at the end of the day you might throw some there and then. Other things you might eye up for a good profit. Some bits might not be worth the hassle and you box to take round a charity shop.

  • Good afternoon all, especially boredjellybean and lucy_lemon, it looks like November is going to be a good month. You don't have to sign up to a specific challenge just jump right in with the rest of us. We set our own individual targets, though many are going for 10 items per day this month. Some count up individual items, others bags of clutter. You choose what's best for you and post your progress on here. We get encouragement from your activities and try to give back the same.

Sarah - I echo suzeesu2000, please delutter yourself of that baby!! We're looking forward to the next chapter :)

I've got rid of quite a lot in the last months but I'm still discovering untouched areas. I thought I had a box of momentos from Africa - to find it's mainly papers so I'll go through that this evening - most will go out at once. It means I can reorder my storage boxes and put what I'm keeping in smaller containers. Eventually I'm looking forward to no longer needing them.

1 wooden bowl - for fire
    1 book - cs
    2 pictures - cs
    1 picture frames - cs
  • Nothing to report here today: had a day off from decluttering and went for a lovely walk in the sunshine round Greenwich Park and Docklands (London). Although I'm not a lover of London it was very quiet where we went, until we got to Canary Wharf! Managed to get some of daughter's stuff back to her though....

    Will try harder tomorrow!
Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

  • Nothing to report for today or yesterday as I've been at work.

happytails hope you don't have too much longer to wait!
