  • I bought six books at a book sale so now have to find six to declutter.

I also put out the rubbish bag.Not a big deal maybe but I only put out one 35L rubbish bag a month.

    23. Load of recycling which OH had washed up but left hanging around :( (2 tins, 2 jars!) (recycling)

1 x packaging. As for a new mat. It replaced a broken one but it's still an in, so the declutter out don't count, just balances out of 1 in, 1 out. Harsh but it's the only way to reach a life of less stuff.

I am so glad I am not the only one who's husband is oblivous to the recycling bag! Drives me nuts!!!

I love your 1 in 1 out - I am so going to adopt this, thankfully I'm not a hoarder but OH and DD are

Weather is hideous here - hoping the rain dries up so that I can run out and do my avon deliveries

Good to see everyone on a declutter mission. :j

    23. Load of recycling which OH had washed up but left hanging around :( (2 tins, 2 jars!) (recycling)
    24. UHT milk given to neighbour, as part of prepare for winter thread. Been sitting in the hallway for...2 weeks :o

    26. Plastic box packaging, will use it to put CS bits into (CS)
    27. Magazine (recycling)
    28. Old house phone (friend)
    29. Garden ornament, broken
    30. Necklace (charity)
    31. Packaging, used to provide filling for bags donated to CS (CS)
    32. Old scanner (friend)

I had a sort out in a couple of drawers and the floordrobe. Rich pickings for decluttering.:)

    33. Old underwear (note to self, stop buying George underwear it doesn't last) :(
    34. Bag (CS)
    35. Jewellery bag (CS)
    36. Ornament (CS)
    37. Hanger (CS)
    38. Wooden door stop (CS)
    39. Another door stop (CS) - am I collecting these now????:rotfl:

Going to tackle toiletries next. I did a big purge on these as part of the buy no toiletries thread and did really well. I'm doing ok, couple of splurges since, but need to bring everything together. It's cluttering up the windowsill and others places.

Pair of shoes, bought a couple of weeks ago, that are too tight across my toes - returned to shop for refund
2 tatty pairs of shoes - binned

Also, I took 4 pairs of sandals off the shoe rack in the hall, and put them in a tub in the bottom of my wardrobe, so now the shoes we will be wearing during the winter all fit on the rack and look much tidier.
Shoes are the stuff I need to sort. I'll try wearing each pair then get CS any that don't make the mark :)

Hi, just to say thanks for the welcome. Update to follow in the near future. Feeling unusually uplifted by efforts so far.
Then it's the perfect time to start even if you declutter for just 5 minutes :j

Makes no sense to leave the washed out recycling hanging around. No point arguing about it though, quicker just to deal with it. Then hopefully leading by example he'll get the message ;) Yes the 1 in, 1 out rule is something that I do with any new clothes so that's relatively under control. It's just for other stuff I don't apply it and need to. Stuff is stuff :)

Wondering if I'll make the 300 target, but should hopefully get going when hubby is at work monday & the kids are back at school ;) Peace while I sling!
Everyone seems to be doing so well, it's inspiring :)
Have some black bags, recycling bags etc ready to declutter on Monday as soon as everyone is out the way :D
I'm listing more on eBay today and sorting and tidying. Our house almost looks like a completely different one, it's great when you can finally see the effects of decluttering!
That's a good point. I can see a difference in some areas too so maybe it's a good idea to hunt down the more visible (irritating) stuff first :j

Best of luck to everyone, including lurkers, in their decluttering :A

I filled up the garden bin this weekend with loads of leaves and rotten lavender that I cut down. I am not a natural gardener so I tend to do gardening in short bursts of say 30 to 60 minutes before I get bored. I also emptied 3 buckets of potatoes that we never got round to empty in the summer. To my surprise the potatoes still looked ok, some of it was rotten but managed to get around a kilo of potatoes that I will boil tomorrow for dinner.

Yesterday I sorted out my makeup bag and threw away 3 eye shadows. Earlier in the week I also sold a book.

I was meant to start a new job next week but the start date has now been delayed until the next Monday so I am planning plenty of decluttering next week. I want to start sorting out my old photo albums and turn them into photo books, has anyone tried this? Is it easy to do?

Good luck to you all with your decluttering, reading about your achivements inspires me to get on with mine.

    Good evening

Sorted out the paperwork - some recycled, some filed and some letters signed and ready to be returned to school by the boys.

Also sorted the coffee table and decluttered some magazines.

Its wheelie bin/recycling day tomorrow so had a mad rush round emptying bins, sorting fridge and cleaning boys bedrooms ie moving their beds and retrieving socks and general rubbish.

    Have a good week everyone.
