Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

Hello de-clutterers - some sterling work being done here.
I haven't kept up with or posted on the thread since the end of July but I have "kept to the code" and carried on with some de-cluttering on top of everything else.
So it's the end of another month and I would like to report my progress. I haven't been keeping proper count but am happy to declare
29 items sold on auction site - each was mailed using recycled packaging materials so a double declutter effect. In most cases I also used stamps that I have in stock - I wouldn't clall this de-cluttering as they are neatly filed in my bureau but it fits with the idea of using stuff instead of just storing it
30 - 55 items cleared at the weekend into charity bags which will be collected on Wed (proper charity collection by AgeUK for their shops not the commercial collectors)
56 - 67 items cleared from one shelf in pantry. I had to throw out a couple of items but the rest were either used or stored properly (why did I have 2 storage containers for granulated sugar when neither DH nor I use sugar in drinks or on cereal?)
68 - 76 assorted foodstuffs used from freezer
When sorting out for the charity bags I also identified more items which I listed for sale but I won't count these until they are sold.
So a total for August of 76/100 As my main focus this month was finding things to sell in order to pay for some household repairs I am relatively pleased with this total (and if I counted each item of packaging it would make just over 100)
I've been using up food from the cupboards and freezers and have significantly cut back on buying new things (e.g. no clothes bought in summer sales - something of a record for me I think) but I still have a LONG way to go before I achieve a clutter free home.
As always the posts on here are inspiring and/or amusing - thank you all
Just remembered that I am also using up make up, perfume etc. so have decluttered at least 5 items this month making a new total for August of 81/1000 -
Some good descriptions on here to help you to detect when stuff's due to be binned...

Havent been posting - rationing my time spent on here really But have been de cluttering. Not very good at keeping a tally but I am guessing I must be near the 300 mark this month - I have taken 6 binliners full of clothes books toys household items to CS also one put out for kerbside collection. Have given away about 15 items on Fr**gle and have got huge box of books going on Saturday morning. Have given friend a bag full of clothes my DD2 no longer wants/fits. Thrown away total carp into wheelie bin and have 90 things on Eb*Y - counting all of them as gone cos if they dont sell then its off to CS with them - no second chances
So a productive month..........still loads to sling in September though

Right I need to get my butt decluttering again.
I had done so well but now it has slipped back again.
As in the past I will start a list of declutter areas and work through them.
Yesterday I literally took everything out of DD2s bedroom, sorted it and organised it all back in minus a bin bag :-) I counted 57 items in the big bag between her room and a shelf in my wardrobe!
Today
58. Finished stock of toiletries
59. Frame of wedding photo decluttered to my new desk at work
60. Cardboard box 'project' of DDs off to recycling
So 60/100 isn't a bad start

Can I join in? I have to declutter. I have to declutter. I just came back from living abroad and I brought home all the stuff which had been in storage for the past 3 years. It is all a bit dusty and frankly my new place is tiny and there is no room for everything. To make matters worse I have about 5 cubic meters coming by ship. I have no idea how to fit it all in. On top of it all I have doubles of just about everything and a huge box full of toilettries and enough makeup to open a shop. In short I have to declutter.
OUT: 6 cardboard boxes and dealt with contents too. Threw away tons of old paperwork (shreded first).
IN: bath mat -necessary as I have a little boy who doesn't appreciate slippery surfaces...............................................................................

67. carrier bags to CS
68. bras to CS
69. dresses to CS
70. swimming goggles to CS
71. glasses with one lens missing - in the bin
72. flowers well past their best - in the garden waste bin
So that's 72/100 with 2 days to go, and I'm working both days  Looks like it will be another mad rush on the last day of the month then
Oooh, does it count if I declutter stuff I have [STRIKE]hoarded [/STRIKE]kept for a rainy day, to DS's stash of essentials for university??Said stuff is being kept in his room in a big box so it's still technically still in our house but not technically amongst the general household [STRIKE]hoarded[/STRIKE] stored items...........

Haven't really found anything to declutter today, it's been more a 'getting rid of things already sorted out' sort of day! Did however find
170. Cloth bag used to take craft bits round to library
Took a bag of crafty bits round to the library to give to the SureStart Children's Centre staff.
Took a box file with all my mum's hand-made cards in back to her house. I have been finishing them off and putting inserts in them and labelling them in readiness for a sale on Saturday.
Took 20 months old granddaughter and all her assorted paraphanelia home.
Had some ins today though: a black sack of cans for recycling was left outside; mum had made us a cake; bought a curry and some chocs from Tesco (curry gone, chocs soon will be!). Cans will be put out for the bin men on Thursday, along with the other 3 or so sacks that were delivered over the weekend. (We're not going to collect and recycle them any more as we only get 20p a kilo for them and it's not worth our while any more).
September looms ever closer, along with my Great Wardrobe Sort Out!!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing
