Worn out pair of trainers that I used for garden work binned. (I found another pair in better condition that I can use in the garden instead.)

    Broken belt thrown away.

Cardboard box and small pile of leaflets and brochures into recycling.

    August total 5/100 :o

I have also got a few bits in a bag for charity shop, but won't count this until it's gone.

Unfortunately I am currently depressed and not doing very well with decluttering, hoping to get a few more things out before the end of the month though. Well done to everyone on the August decluttering so far.

Sorry to read that you're depressed.Maybe you should put any decluttering plans on hold until you feel more motivated.I'm sure that the decluttering can wait a bit longer.

    Hope you feel better soon.

Well, three hours and trips to the charity shop and tip later, I'm on a bit of a high! :j

I haven't finished Step 1 (organize the whole loft), but I've made major inroads. There's even carpet visible!

    Decluttered:
    • 1 bag of cardboard for recycling
    • 5 bags of magazines for recycling
    • 1 bag of paper for recycling
    • 1 bag of plastic for recycling
    • 1 bag of rubbish
    • 5 pairs of manky trainers and "gardening" shoes for recycling
    • 1 bin bag of coathangers for recycling
    • 1 bin sack and 3 bags of textiles for recycling (old towels, bedlinen)
    • 1 bag of polystyrene for tip
    • 13 videos for charity shop
    • 4 books for charity shop
    • 1 jigsaw for charity shop
    • 2 soft toys for charity shop
1 bag of general bric-a brac for charity shop
      • 1 handbag for charity shop
1 bag of ties for charity shop
        • 1 picture for charity shop

I think there's a lot more to go and it should be easier tomorrow as I've got more space to work in. I do feel slightly ashamed of keeping so much junk :o

Thanks again for your inspiration :T

Much, much sympathy Callisto. I'm currently in recovery, and trying to clear the stuff out of the house before my dosage is reduced.

Rather than thinking that you're not doing well with decluttering - or whatever - lower your targets instead. Just say, for instance that you'll declutter 5 things this week - or whatever you think you can manage. This is what I'm hoping to be able to do.

Do something to treat yourself every day - light some candles, put favourite music on, have a bubbly bath, walk on the beach etc etc

        HTH

Callisto.. For me the clutter made me feel worse and my mood improved when I started dealing with the mess.. but I've never been a conformist.. right now I think I have PND.. again.. and I don't eat (I decluttered 24lb since March) and I fling everything in sight.. it will get better!!! Just go with it and do what you can.

I've washed some pretty blue glass vases to ebay :D

Could you fill a carrier with stuff you can bin?
Could you list 1 item on ebay/freecycle?

And make sure you are doing stuff just for you because you are special too!

      • Much better today. No grandchildren to look after so took the opportunity to do a trip to the local recycling centre and drop off a load of bits that had been waiting in the garage to be disposed of.

        108. 3 ring binders (given to friend. Papers from each put in box file)
        109. Breadmaker (given to friend)
        110. Pair of scissors that hubby had used to poke around in the paper shredder and consequently twisted the blades - metal recycling
        111. Fabric plastic bag tube thingy, all torn and revolting - fabric recycling
        112. Bottles and glass jars to recycling
        113. Garden rubbish taken to local recycling centre
        114. Old hair trimmer - local recycling centre small electricals bin
        115. Amazon packaging - recycling bag
        116. Entries from a quiz I ran a year ago - recycling bag
        117. Obsolete charity leaflets - recycling bag
        118. 2 out of date spray oils - bin
        119. Manky sponge cloth from kitchen - fabric recycling
        120. A load of receipts shredded
        121. Plastic ring toy - charity shop bag
        122. 12 pairs of my socks - homeless shelter bag
        123. 1 manky flannel - fabric recycling
        124. 2 squeegie things for wiping windows - bin
        125. Bag of cement - local tip
        126. Out of date sausages - bin
        127. Out of date margarine - bin
        128. Miscellaneous piece of wood found in loft - recycling centre
        129. Garden pop up container with too many holes in it - bin
        130. Contents of paper shredder put in compost bin

Also disposed of 4 batteries, old duvet and the broken phone at the local recycling centre.

Very pleased with today's effort: got all day free tomorrow to 'play', so I might tackle my clothes pile, although I do need to give the main bedroom a thorough clean. Onwards and upwards - at this rate I might get September's decluttering done early!!!

Well done everyone, hugs to those feeling unwell.

DH got rid of a very old and holey pair of slippers.
Quite a lot of rubbish and recycling, mainly paper.
DD is (still!) tidying her room and has some magazines to recycle and I noticed her bin is full so that will go tomorrow.
DH's friend collected an old computer.
        Mum took 3 books.
We had an "eat-up" tea so that de-cluttered the fridge.:D
Put a new washing line up and got rid of the old one which had seen better days.

Might make a start on the garage tomorrow, but quite often I make a plan and then feel like doing something different so we'll see.

        We decluttered the garage.:j

I am so pleased this is done. It looks tons better. We got rid of loads. I was quite suprised how much stuff there was to go as it didn't look too bad.

Loads of old, broken storage boxes.
        Pots of paint
        Metal
        Old paintbrushes
        Car seat
        Football boots
        Broken plant pots

and lots more. All disposed of at the recycling plant, tip, sold on. We also sorted the side of the garage so that is so much tidier. Really feel like we have achieved a lot today.

Hoping to garden tomorrow, there is a lot of tidying up to do. If it rains I'll start the paperwork, need to go into town too though so it will be a busy day.

        Happy decluttering everyone.
