Just found this thread, I would love to join both thread and the Ditch 100 please. House is liveable although rather full, no chairs, sofas or tables are cluttered nor floors its everything is dumped in the study or downstairs loo and the loo at least has just gardening things and mop so not so bad but the study has got so bad that when you walk in you have a small path to pc and that is it. It was not helped by me bringing back to car loads of papers and cassette tapes from my Dads after he died in the summer and done nothing with them but dump them in there. Cassettes are full of people speaking - dad would thrust a microphone in front of anyone who stood there long enough and say 'speak' so I need to go through them to find ones of family and friends who have passed and not, and recycle the ones of random people, business colleagues, strangers etc., and the papers are just ones I grabbed before brother through them out that looked interesting or family related but I know lots of junk among them as Dad had a mania for photocopying things not just once but 50 times. Then there is our junk as well heaven knows what is in there. If I can clear it then can move books that have piled up in my room into the bookcases that have space in there, I know there are some nearly empty shelves but cannot even see the bookcases never mind the shelves to reach.

I did clear a space to reach first bookcase and clear it - by dumping everything on the pile already in middle of room - as I wanted to use it as a pantry so before the pile goes through the floor it has to be dealt with.

I daren't even admit to having a greenhouse that is now falling down full of boxes of ornaments and heaven knows what else that were put there when central heating, new kitchen and windows were put in over 3 years but finished 2 years ago, but dare not bring them back in till there is room.

    Thanks

Should clarify that the clothes I took to the tip were for the clothes recycling box (for local air ambulance). Our local charity shops are all in town, which is fully pedestrianised - the one I could drive to closed in the summer and is sorely missed. Hence most of my clearing out goes via the tip - books for Oxfam, clothes to Air Ambulance etc.
Now off to figure out how to do a sig.....

    Sig now in place:j

Last night, on a whim, I started to clear out the stuffed to the gills wardrobe. Now there is a black bin bag full of 12 unwanted/unused and hated fleeces.

I'll take them to the local homeless people's place.

Not counting to 100... just going to waltz in the 'new' spaces!

    Morning

My plan is to spend all day tackling my kitchen, not looking forward to it, but I have to wait in for some deliveries so I might as well get on with it. I find kitchen gadgets the hardest to part with for some reason.

    Happy decluttering everyone :)

oooh....lots more people signing up to the Ditch 100 in January challenge :T

Can I ask though - if you get rid of two things the same (ie two jumpers) does it count as one item or 2?
I'm guessing it depends how desperate we are :rotfl: - for some of us I suppose a bag of clothes to the charity shop would be just one item of many, many things to go! After all - some of us have a whole house to declutter (like me), others, just one room.

Also, when we update, should we list the whole list each time, or just the latest items ditched?

    7. Just chucked out a bag of sticky lollies - think they were left over from Halloween 2010!!!
