I have sorted out ALL the kids toys - there is a pile in the hall ready to go to the charity shop. (and yes I do feel like I wasted so much money looking at some of them, they haven't been played with very much at all) and 2 bags of clothes ready to be handed on to friends. The garage is the main problem for me but most of it is DH's and if I chuck things out I'll bound to be chucking out the things he needs. Also - I found a box of books today. Great books, novels which I've obviously kept because they were good and I really would like to re-read them some day. But I don't have shelves or cabinets to put them in - what solutions can people offer? Should I be ruthless and add them to the charity pile?
Personally I think if they're really good novels you will reread it's a shame to get rid of them. But given I have over 2000 books in the house I probably shouldn't be dispensing advice.
I work in publishing and get sent all kinds of books for free - only the best get kept, many more than that have been passed on but still i have *ahem* quite a lot. lots of them are DH's too, and probably 350 are children's books, and another 200 are cookery books which I seem to collect. So probably you shouldn't take any notice of me whatsoever.0 -
All I can say is wow, my house looks like a bomb has gone off!
Ironically, I have done so much decluttering today but you couldn't tell
Pile of DDs outgrown clothes to nursery for spares. V. large bag to the charity shop. A couple of things to family. Finally got listing on ebay too (pretty much all BINs) and four things have sold already, yay!

It's always got to get worse before it can get better! Tomorrow I'm going to finish on the toys downstairs and if I feel up to it start under DS's cabin bed. It makes me feel a bit quivery just thinking about it though.
Have just discovered a brand new shrink-wrapped Pixar monopoly game I didn't even know we had. Since we already have a Thunderbirds version, that can go straight on ebay.0 -

Ditch 100 in January
This sounds like my sort of challenge! :jI've got so much rubbish to clear out, we have a clothes bank at work so I'm going to find a couple of things to put in that tomorrow.
0/100Me, DH and DD (17 months) clearing our debt for a better future. Then (LBM) = £21,636.43 (Oct 2009) Now = £12128.07 (44%)GOALS/CHALLENGESTry to get credit card to £2k by April 2012 (was £3014.94)PADing to clear CC 1/1/12 TOTAL: £32.00Ditch 100 in January challenge: lost count but way over 100!!!/1000 -
My other realisation is that I need my house to be free of clutter more than I need the money I will get from Ebaying any of my stuff. So........... new resolution, it is all going to the charity shop. We have *way* too much stuff so will also be trying not to spend much on "bargains" for a bit either!
Wise words - I definitely agree with this! Keeping things to sell, and then not selling, is never going to get my house de-cluttered. Giving to the charity shop usually gives you a warm feeling too! OH is going back to work tomorrow so my de-cluttering is going to start then.0 -
I think my cat has pooped in my bedroom
... She got accidentally shut in all day. She's not usually allowed in there but must have sneaked in when I wasn't looking. I can smell something but can't see it so going to have to hunt it out, at least I'll get some sorting done...

Hello
I have managed to sort out some bits for the charity shop collection which is on Friday.
dressing gown
socks - several pairs
2 x work trousers
2 x jeans
t Shirt
Also filled and emptied the recycling bin - rubbish seems to collect in DS room but he has gone back to Uni today so I can clean over the weekend! The recycling bin is full again but it is too windy out there to venture out to empty it.
So far 7/100
I also cleared a bag of rubbish and one of recycling at the other house - then loaded the car up with more carp that needs sorting before disposing of. Will need to unload before work tomorrow! oops - fell asleep this afternoon when I should have done this:oNovember NSD 1/10Weight loss - 7lbs from the 41 I need to loose = 34 to go0 -
