Found a jar of foreign coins in the mess - not sure if it is worth listing them on ebay or finding somewhere to donate them.

Also found an envelope of used stamps, someone I worked with used to collect them, but she left ages ago. Not sure what to do with these now.

Guessing you're a fellow Welshie with a name like Celyn

banks and travel agents often collect coins for charity donations. I think I'm right in saying oxfam went through a phase of collecting coins, although I think that was old british money rather than foreign currency.

as for the stamps, try your local library, mine used to have a huge box collecting them for guide dogs.

it's a time management strategy known as eating your frog. Or in laymans terms, tackling that really horrible job that you keep putting off. time management people reckon you should start the day by getting your frog over and done with for maximum productivity.

it's a term the flylady thread people use a lot too

  • Can I join please too? Although I think I may have done January's decluttering in one day today! I have sorted out ALL the kids toys - there is a pile in the hall ready to go to the charity shop. (and yes I do feel like I wasted so much money looking at some of them, they haven't been played with very much at all) and 2 bags of clothes ready to be handed on to friends. The garage is the main problem for me but most of it is DH's and if I chuck things out I'll bound to be chucking out the things he needs. Also - I found a box of books today. Great books, novels which I've obviously kept because they were good and I really would like to re-read them some day. But I don't have shelves or cabinets to put them in - what solutions can people offer? Should I be ruthless and add them to the charity pile?

ok not really done much today as been at work and then to DD's for tea, but did chuck a pair of knickers in the bin:o was hanging out some washing and they were quite tatty.... is that too much information? Also 2 carrier bags of christmas carp went to the bin and the box of old school books will go tonight. That's 4 today.

I gave away all my books in a fit of decluttering a few years ago along with the bookcase so I wouldn't fill it again:p and TBH I can't even remember what I had. I figured that I could always borrow books from the library if I needed to....

is it wrong to eat chocolate whilst watching a weight loss programme?

I dunno, I ate a sugary doughnut while watching a Simpsons episode where they were on about sugar being bad or something like that. :rotfl:

    Evening all,
a busy day here started with paperwork, then desk drawers, cabinet drawers and baskets, then my clothes.
Why are men so opposed to getting rid of what is essentially rubbish or is it just mine?
    Onwards and upwards everyone
    regards
    :j
  • I'm starting my major declutter of my room tomorrow morning. I say start - I started it a few days ago and have two bags of rubbish to go to the tip. However I still have lots more to do. I have some cds that I only like a few of the songs on so I'm considering putting them on my MP3 player and sending the cds off to music magpie. I also have some handbags that can go on ebay. I have so many and although I am a handbag addict there are so many that I haven't used. I may as well ebay them and put the money towards a debt rather than have them sitting around and collecting dust.

    Ditch 100 in January Challenge

Hi I have just come across this thread and would like to join. I have set myself this challenge. I am up to 34 items....100 is probably going to be easy :rotfl: !

Inspired by Flylady this year I am going to finally declutter, sort my house out once and for all and decorate.

I am totally in the right frame of mind which always helps.

On the surface my house looks quite tidy but behind closed doors its a different story!

    Good luck all. xx
