:) After spending an eye-popping few hours online on hoarders (or rather children-of-hoarders) websites I'm determined to be a decluttered as possible without becoming physically uncomfortable.

    39. A cassette which I played and can live without- binned.
    40. Mobile phone carry case- c.s.
    41. Bag of green waste from lottie to the tip.
    42. Cardboard bottle carrier - recyc.
    43. 5 Vitalite marg tub lids - binned.
    44. 3 mayonnaise jar lids - no jars- no clue why kept - binned.
    45. 1 library book - returned.
    46. 2 plastic bowls which came with food and "might be useful"- binned.
    47. Large coffee jar- recyc.
    48. 3 rawl plugs extracted from bathroom wall- 3 left.

I still have to reconcile the jam jars with the lids. I regularly give bags of jars away to Freecyclers who are taking up jam-making but if I can't find the lids, I shall let them go to recyc.

:o I stood on a stool and got to see the back of the top shelf of the plastic container cupboard. Howdy strangers; I have two unused clingfilms and 1 unused greaseproof paper stashed up there. Who knew? They have Morrisons' yellow labels on and were redcued by half, so at least I know why they were bought. Shan't need any more of that for a while, then.;)

    We're going great guns, people.

have you tried your local "Gumtree", it's free or do you live somewhere where you get lots of passersby? Sometimes I just stick things in my front yard with a sign on

    Still in spare room cupboard:

    Old beach bag
Old tap / shower head thingy
    More coat hangers
    Paper bag
Disc and instructions for camera I don't have anymore
3 assorted cables for items I don't have any more
    Old badminton racket

Will probably have more bedding to exit tomorrow, as have a pile for the spare bed. Just how many do I need??? Will have a better idea when today's laundry is dry...

  • Some inspiring posts here.

Busy weekend including a wedding meant that I didn't get much time for decluttering but did sort out 1 cupboard and have a pile of things for listing next time there is a free listing weekend. Not counting any of these until they leave the house but did manage to jettison the following:

26/27 Present and card to friend (bought ages ago for this purpose)
28 Bracelet which I noticed in the boot of the car when I was putting in the charity shop bag; had taken it off last time I wore it because it was annoying me so it was added to the charity bag
29 Perfume bottle into recycling after using up the last dregs
    30 Aftershave to DS
    31/35 items sold and dispatched
36/37 2 pairs of unmentionables into bin
    38/40 3 T shirts into charity bag

    So current total is 40/139

Making slow but steady progress and know I have a LONG way to go but as well as the jettisoned items I am also decluttering a lot of space by using or putting away things that have been lying around for far too long. For example I have been filing or recycling or shredding mail as soon as I have read it/dealt with it instead of leaving it in a pile on the hall table. And I'm not counting the usual things I recycle every week as that would be kidding myself.

Loved the Keep Calm and Carry On Decluttering comment - that's my motto from now on :T

Well, I didn't really do much decluttering over the weekend (didn't add to it either, and kept things tidy, put things back in their place etc), but I did do lots of cleaning.

And......today the OH has an impromptu day's holiday. I'd had a glass of wine last night (or 2), so informed him that I wanted him to spend some time tackling the cardboard mountain. He said he would, and when I smiled, he then said 'well maybe, I'm not promising anything.'. Well, this led me to tell him that I now expected him to do it, as 90% of the pile is his, and I am no longer going to sort it out for him, nor I am going to put up with it cos I can't stand it sitting there taking up all the space, and I've got rid of enough it before, only for him to add to it again! Can you tell I get a bit fierce after a glass of wine? lol

Well, at lunchtime he was texting me, and I said 'ahem, please could you tackle some of the cardboard mountain today :D', and he replied to say he's already been sorting it this morning! HURRAH!

I don't know how much he's actually acheived until I get home, I'm just so glad he's made a start on it! XD
