Hi, can I join too please? We tidied the lounge before Christmas and I'm determined to get rid of lots of 'junk' this year. OH sorted out a carrier bag of paperwork tonight and half of it went in shredder/bin. But I still have a mountain to climb before I achieve my clutterfree haven. I've had 2 boxes of 'stuff' in my car (for 2 months-embarrassed) ready to take to charity. and it's still there. need i say more...

LOL - I've done that too!! In fact....my boot needs a serious clear out sometime soon. At least the back seat is free now :D

  • Hello

Please can I join in the declutter of 100 in January? I am going to get cracking this month with the mess since moving in October. There is still loads at the old house that I need to clear so that I can put it on the market. I have a day off tomorrow and DS is going back to Uni so I can get him to sort through his Dad's clothes and decide if he wants any then whats left can go to the charity shop or ebay. I also need to sort out huge amounts of of paper work that I have put off for years.:o

    Hey

Can i join you in this please. Me and DH live in a one bedroom flat which is crammed full of stuff, junk and stuff for ebay!!

We also have a shed and a large cupboard in the close full of stuff (most of which i have no idea what it is and couldn't get to it even if i needed to use it)

I am sick of living in this mess. We did try to declutter before christmas and we did make some progress but i always want everything cleared out there and then and always make a bigger mess than when i started. I wish i hadnt started as it gets really depressing with things lying everywhere. We don't even have one clutter free room in the house its a nightmare and its affecting my health and relationship with DH as i feel im constantly having a go at him even though most of the stuff is mine.

Any idea where i should start?? I have 2 jobs and work most days am back at my full time job 2moro and am off from my 2nd job 2moro night so am going to try and make a start 2moro night when i get home. I have got 3 bags of cans in the boot of my car to take to tesco recycling so will do that before i come back home 2moro.

How do you all do it? I can't seem to part with anything. I hope by coming on here you'll all be able to help keep me on track

Buddiebabe, have found it hard to part with things too, but I am so sick of it all that I've had a blitz!
This evening I have been proactive, I have cleared through a load of drawers in the sideboard & filled a bin liner :o. I've also got a small pile for ebay, and a few bits to list on my local selling group on facebook.

Just doing that has made me feel a lot better, but also I've acknowledged how far I've got to go - there were things in there I'd held on to since before I left home!!! :o

Please can I join the challenge, as I have got rid of:
1 full bin liner of 'stuff'
    3 baby sleeping bags
    1 pushchair tray
1 very annoying large zingzillas toy
    1 bag of baby clothes
1 duvet cover for freegle (collection tomorrow)
    2 baby snowsuits.
96 items decluttered so far in 2013 :)

14 CDs not sure what to do with these though?

I have bought a special cutter to cut my xmas cards into gift tags, can't wait for it to be delivered!

I'm intrigued by your gift tag cutter......any chance you could share where you got it from - sounds so much better than pinking shears!!

    Many thanks.
  • Loving the idea of a challenge for the month - I'll join as well please! Have lost my declutter partner though - he's decluttered himself back to school today, so my progress will be slower as a result.
I do have a quick question - I have a collection of School Friend annuals (old girls annuals) and am only missing one. That one is very rare and likely to cost quite a bit to buy (if it ever comes available!), and I haven't read them for a while. Should I sell the collection, or should I keep it? bearing in mind how much time, money and fun I've invested in it over the years? I'm really torn on this one, so any thoughts would help. BTW, I have 3 boys, so would have to wait for the next generation to possibly pass them down the family - if they'd even be interested by then!

If you're not 100% sure about getting rid of them, then don't.

Bag of out of date food to the tip today, and another couple of things gone on Ebay. Still haven't tackled the paperwork cupboard though :o
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D
  • The person asking about how long to keep paperwork.... The poster who said HMRC can go back 6 years is correct but only for Tax. National Insurance can go back as far as it needs to (back to your 16th birthday!) All payslips should be kept for 6 years, but P60s and P45's should never be destroyed. Keep them forever!!
the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j
