most of your post sounds good but the only thing I would think is if you throw away all your ds and dvd cases you'll really reduce their value and would likely find it very difficult to trade or sell them in future if you didn't want them anymore.

Just bought a set of office drawers for my study. They are the same as the ones I have in work and I've wanted a set for my study for ages!

I've emptied out a large set of plastic drawers and a small wooden box into the new drawers and feel very happy! I've also been able to get rid of some more clutter and now only have 1 'bits and bobs' drawer instead of 3.

Got rid of an old DVD player on freecycle this morning. Am now looking at how I can use things in different ways in the house rather than buy new.

Finally got rid of 3 chocolate / biscuit tins. I always think I'm going to use them, but there's a limit to how many empty ones I need to leave around the house!

    3 large tins - recycled
1 bag of paperwork - recycled

I'm sure I got rid of a few more bits but I didn't write them down!

Another quick update! All items earmarked for my mum's got taken yesterday so are now out of the house. Mine and OH's job for today was to sort out the conservatory and get some stuff listed on ebay and facebook.

    20. Charity shop bag full of recycling from conservatory
    21. 1000 piece jigsaw and very large box to recycling due to being mostly sky and trees and having 3 pieces missing!
    22. Large bag of bits from my handmade craft stash to donate to friend's school to turn into hampers to summer fair

I also hoovered, cleaned windows inside (piddling it down outside so that will have to wait for another day), washed plastic bits etc. Re-organised and reduced my craft stash as mentioned above but also pulled out a few bits that I won't use so have put them up for sale on my local facebook pages.

I have 18 items listed on ebay, OH has several too, hopefully some will sell :)

Just went through my paperwork. I thought I'd done this not long ago but apparently not - several years worth of wage slips, my old record of achievement (!) - enough to fill a big primark bag anyway. My file is now all streamlined.

We are in the middle of a big de-clutter and can I just say "how the hell did it get this bad!" - never again. I have to say we are finding it easy to ditch stuff, just can't see why we kept most of it and feel it robbed us of some sort of a life, as why would we want to spend hours sorting out "stuff" instead of relaxing with friends and family?

    Well done Fusspot! :T

I love a good de-clutter myself too. And you did well not to throw your journals/diaries away as you have to be comfortable with your decisions. You can replace a book or a pair of shoes. Sentimental items are not replaceable :)

Is it too late for me to join in? I've been looking at the clutter in my house all winter and only today found the energy to start doing something about it. Ventured up in my loft today (aka as the land that time forgot) and it was hard to even move around up there because of all the clutter. Managed to at least to clear a path and in the process practically filled a recycling bin and found about 20 items for the charity shop.

I live in a small house and rely on the loft for storage. My first goal is to give it a really good clear out and organise what is left so that I don't have to keep going through box after box to find things.

Feel good that I've made a start today.

    Decluttered in April.. 16/100

5 binbags full to bursting with 'bits' from the girls room
    1 pack baby bodysuits
6 binbags from the boys room
    1 broken wooden spoon
    1 TFT monitor
1 binbag full from the kitchen... otherwise known as the petri dish!
    1 large cardboard box

Sorted some stuff to donate to the spares bin at school.. DS2 can take those on Monday
My kettle is on its way out now too, it is leaking by the handle.. :( it is the 1 thing OH brought with him which we use daily. he is a bit 'attached' to it I fear.
