I've just had a good declutter and am getting on very well with it and am feeling better already. This is what I've done so far:
Getting rid of books that I have on my Kindle but keeping the ones that don't as yet have a Kindle version.
Have put all my CDs on a hard drive and am selling them to Music Magpie.
Keeping my DVDs as I don't know how to put them onto hard drive but there are only a few anyway and I might just get a filing case for them and throw out the covers.
I've put my Nintendo DS games into a tiny little case and thrown away the bulky cases.
I have emptied a drawer that I use for my hairdryer, straighteners and make up and am putting that stuff in my bedside drawer and am using the bigger one to store clothes.
I am going to get a storage box for my shoes to put in my wardrobe and have thrown out the shoe rack that was in there taking up space and not really working as it should.
If I do need more room for clothes I am going to get one of those plastic four drawer things to put in my wardrobe but will wait to see how it goes now I have freed up a drawer.
I am going to get storage boxes for the cards I want to keep and my memory things and keep them in my cubbyhole or on the shelf in my wardrobe rather than in my bedside drawers where they were.
I am going to purchase a lockable filing cabinet to keep my personal papers, bills etc, also my diaries and my smaller electrical items like laptop, Kindle etc to store away securely.
One thing I have learnt from this exercise though is that I can't throw out my journals and diaries. I was in two minds whether to scan them all onto the laptop (a very time consuming exercise as I have quite a few) and dumping the paper ones but looking back through them I feel I have to keep them in their original format and any future journals I shall also handwrite as its not the same as journalling on a computer so not everything works going digital but other things such as CDs and books can be reduced.
You can declutter some things but not others and do things to your own taste, does anyone agree? I find it all very therapuetic.0 -
I did a load of ebay stuff last week. Had another blitz up in the loft. I have two big black sacks for the charity shop to get dropped off. I am slowly but surely getting down on clutter :TCat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money

I am interested in different ways of decluttering, especially journals and sentimental things0

I find it very liberating and want to say well done.
As for DVD's I bought 3 of these years ago to keep mine in http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/special_buys3_20502.htm I only buy DVD's I intend to keep forever, give or take. I've found them to be so useful and keep things compact.Opinion on everything, knowledge of nothing.0
