TRH - Wanting to do something is half the battle! I'd moved 4 times and took all the carp with me before I actually began to get rid of it. If you get rid now you won't have to do it after you've moved!:)

Susan946 - It sounds like you've been through some awful times over the past few years :( I hope you're having more good days than not so good days now.
    I agree with you when you say it's a 'bug'...once you've popped you just can't stop! :D

  • Not had such a good weekend. The TV went phut this morning, so that's out (huge old-fashioned thing) but had to replace or face the kids' wrath. Now can't put things on top, so that's a major hotspot gone - but there's now space in front on the stand so I know exactly what will happen! Also DS (14) dropped his phone down the toilet - luckily insured but with an excess to pay for the replacement - so he owes me big time! Could be a good excuse to shift some of those larger items that take 2 to shift:rotfl:

Am really clutching at straws trying to drag myself to the 100 item total, so my efforts for today are

    36. Broken Spiderman helicopter to bin.
    37. 3 books to CS.
    38. Last of christmas cake - eaten.
    39. Last of Wensleydale cheese - eaten.

More stuff has been sorted and I have a pile of bits to leave the house with me when I go to work tomorrow, and have listed some things on ebay, but I really didn't think I would find this challenge soo hard.:(

I have decluttered some food into a soup and home made bread.
I have decluttered my laptop which was FULL to the brim with rubbishy files
I have thrown away 5 bras and listen 6 more on ebay as well as 2 coats.
I've thrown out TONNES of rubbish.
Life is finally looking a bit less hazed with rubbish!

Folks I have a confession and a question

The confession is I've been avoiding starting on DD's room cos her floordrobe is toooo scary. Also she's 20 so should do it herself, and has been v I'll lately so I didn't want to distress her. But those are just excuses the real reason is I can't face the inevitable battle :(

Also a question - what to do with dead laptops that are clutter but may have private info on so I can't really just take them to the recycling centre?

After a miserable start I have got well stuck in these last few days . And like others on here I am already feeling much better in myself and plan to ring companies i owe money to starting First thing Monday morning - rather than avoiding them

I too have collected things when moving house a few times so ive still tons of paperwork to sift through this week , but I have the bug now so it will be done :o

Today alone I have re - organized my kitchen cupboards and everything has a new home now - still doing it as it's taking me alot longer than expected and helping dd paint pictures in between is eating time also !

    So

x1 bin bag of bits of rubbish
x6 out of date medicines boxes tablets etc
    x2 pan set with lids

x3 cereal boxes - decided to save space and empty them into containers I have a mountain of :o
x1 Box of painting stuff of dd's - again to save space - kept the paints
x3 out of date food out of the cupboard

This is from memory and I am already feeling my shoulders being lifted ;)

Sounds like an expensive time. We recently had to replace our telly and bought a modern, thin one. I agree it's one less space to clutter, but I did miss it at Christmas - I had some decs that always sat on the telly so had to find somewhere else to put them. I suppose I should declutter the Christmas decs now..........
  • Have had a great day today! Two boxes and a large bag of uni paperwork in the recycling bin (and found my exam certificates in the process), a black bag full of clothes for the charity shop, two more black bags of rubbish in the bin, 12 books to be boxed up and sent to Zapper as they've quoted £26 for them, old computer dismantled and boxed to be given to BIL once a wireless dongle arrives that has been ordered on ebay, an old bag listed on ebay and some hoover bags listed on freecycle. Have also found a load more wrapping paper/gift bags I never knew I had so it looks like I won't need to buy any all year!

I can actually see some of the spare room now. And got rid of some of OH's grotty clothes and found several pairs of jeans I never knew I owned (as they were lost in OH's side of the wardrobe).
