That is serious decluttering! Are you going to take any more of the house apart or was it just the door that was making the place look untidy? :rotfl::rotfl:

Yep deadly serious. I'm making some major changes in the house and the doors downstairs will be replaced in a few days. I can take the door off but dont know how to hang a door. Its one less job for Mr Judi to do.

I must admit, i quite like the open plan look though. :o

    I've emptied the hoover.
I agree with the PP who said that all of this decluttering lark produces a lot of unseen dust and grunge. It's so much nicer when the dust is actually out of the house via the hoover. Maybe one day my house will be lovely and fragrant and light and clean and tidy looking? :D. Maybe not!
I have still got my portfolio sitting on the floor waiting to be sorted so may get a handle on that on Thursday too.

  • My main nemesis in my decluttering mission is my mum (who I live with) who has "oh I need these lino samples from when I did that design course 10 years ago" syndrome.

My kitchen table 'went' a few months back. No one used it at meal times (and i wasnt fussed either) and since it was just being used as a dumping place i decided it had to go. Space is definately an issue in my kitchen especially after we bought a large larder type fridge/freezer. Its only when we got it home did i realize how big it was.

I am thinking of replacing my three seater leather settee with a two seater. We just dont need that many seats now theres only 2 of us (and a third who would rather eat worms than socialize with his parents). I have two medium sized dog crates in my living room which takes up lots of space. Its all about maximizing what we have already.

In the summer i want to tackle the garden but theres no rush for that. The house is keeping me preocuppied for now and i am having to take it in tiny steps because hubby doesnt like change.

11 books to car boot box, a few more books and DVDs added to Zapper list and Amazon but I won't count them until I have enough to send off.

Nail varnish, cardigan and half a box of ferrero rocher given to my Mum today.

I have a bag full of clothes to take to a charity shop. However I don't have the car until next week, so the bag will have to stay lurking in the spare room until then.

    Ditch 100 in January 64/100

Just a couple for me today - buried under marking and tutorial plans :(

    63. Large entertainment unit - ebay, collected this evening
    64. Work notes returned to work and filed properly

I have a large tub of haribo snakes and two bottles of elderflower presse to take to work tomorrow (start of term wine and nibbles - but wine and me are a bad combination that the students ever don't need to see :o so sweets and mouthwash it is)

I found the "magic plate" when I was moving some boxes upstairs. This is something else I want to declutter, but I have no hope of getting shot of. There is a huge back-story to this which is summerised briefly below.

A couple of years ago, we were out in Germany and OH came down with a really nasty bout of D&V.

Response from me: Send to bed with a bucket, an ample supply of water and a clear path to the bathroom. Wait until D&V stops. Feed bland food and dehydration mixture if necessary and patient can keep it down. Keep warm.

Response from outlaws: Hunt in house until you find a square of purple aluminium, order patient (who at this point is curled up in the foetal position and looking man-flu miserable whilst trying hard not to pebbledash the bathroom) to hold said plate to the abdomen because the tachyons harnessed by the purple square of aluminum will cure him of all ills (and rotovirus). Do not let him move from hugging a sheet of metal for 24 hours.

Rejoice! Because 24 hours later it worked! The D&V has stopped, OH is happy and no longer leaking, I am happy because now RyanAir will let us on the plane as OH is no longer acting out a scene from Outbreak and I was really worried [STRIKE]about not being able to escape[/STRIKE] about him.

Because it worked, we got given one. I now have a portal for hypothetical sub-atomic particles in my life. We have had it ever since and I haven't the faintest idea what to do with it (other than violate causality).

I should probably also point out, for added effect, that I'm a scientist. I work with anti-viral drugs. Every time somebody does stuff like this to me, my inner cynic has a little cry and somewhere in my world, a molecule dies.
