Help me clear my cupboards...

Ok please be nice its my first thread in here and I don't know if its in the right place so I'm sorry if not!

A while ago when embarking on a diet (which didn't work out :p) I bought about 6 cans of tomato soup (some with basil). The theory being i'd have a can for lunch.....turns out soup is not really my thing and didn't really fill me up.

What can I do with it? OH is fussy and not a fan of tomatoes so whatever I make needs to be able to be put in the fridge overnight and then take to work for lunch if that's possible?

Other barriers is that we're trying to save money so I can't afford to buy anything extra ingredients wise

cupboards are a bit carp but see below contents of my food life

I condensed chicken soup
4 tomato with basil soup
4 tomato soup
white long rain rice, pasta, spaghetti
gravy granules
mince, chicken
frozen veg - green beans, peas, sweetcorn, corn on cob, parsnips
sweet potatoes, carrots, broccoli
eggs, potatoes, milk, cheese, bread

is there anything I can make with any of this incorporated into the soup for lunch? I usually take pasta, tomatoes, pesto, chicken and cheese (so anything like that would be good?)

Thank you for reading and thank you for anyone who can help me put this soup to some use! :T

    Hi,

I know what you mean, soup isn't my thing either really.

How about mixing in some pasta, peas and sweetcorn, so its a sort of sauce. Maybe a squeeze of tom puree to thicken. Not sure if thats needed or would make a difference, someone will know.

It would keep in batches in the fridge for you to take to work.

Welcome to the forum btw, its the correct place to post as well :D

Good to see someone else say soup isn't their thing, I don't find it fills me up either! and it feels like eating baby food..

Could you incorporate it into a sort of bolognaise and use it for an evening meal?

This is called BBQ chicken apparently, altho I wouldn't call it that - Yummy none the less :)

    4 chicken pieces
    1 onion finely chopped
    1 can tomato soup
    2tbsp white wine vinegar
    2tbsp worcestershire sauce
    2 tsp sugar (taste)

Brown your chicken and set aside
    fry onions til soft
place in oven dish with rest of ingredients and stir
pop in oven 180c for 30/40 mins

Best served with rice and green veg (I like to do it with either brocolli, or peas mixed with sweetcorn)

This really is a fab recipe and doesn't taste like tomato soup once its done :)

(if i don't want to use the oven, i just bubble it on the stove until chicken is cooked)
Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

  • mmm that sounds really nice! I'll have to buy the W sauce and WW vinegar though .... can't afford it this month but February when Mr T gives out the cc vouchers I could use them for it. I'm printing that recipe as I reckon even oh would approve of that:eek:!!!

    For the chicken condensed soup...

    2 ideas

Quiche - I use it in place of milk in quiches - just beat with the eggs as normal for a lovely rich quiche

    Chicken Divan

    Cooked Broccoli
Cooked Chicken (I use leftovers from a roast)
    1 can condensed chicken soup
    1 cup mayonnaise
splash of milk to loosen sauce mix (not too much as it will become runnier once heated)
    2 teaspoons lemon juice
    2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 tbsp mild curry powder or garam masala

spread chicken and brocolli into a lasagne type dish
mix all other ingredients together, reserving some of the cheese
pour over the top making sure everything is covered
    sprinkle over remaining cheese

Bake in the oven 180c for 40 mins or until golden brown on top and piping hot throughout.

This is a seriously rich and delish meal - perfect for dinner parties. I have also been known to top it with mashed potato and serve as a pie but usually serve with rice.

Oooooooh i'm getting hungry now! These are two of my favourite recipes!!!
