Update for the final day of Optimistic October...
1) To have at least 15 NCDs - I finished on a total of 13 NCDs. That's the same as last month except this month I started off well and finished badly.
2) To meal plan at the end of the week for the following week - All done for this week.
3) Be in bed by 10.00pm and light out by 10.30pm Sunday to Thursday - Bed at 9.30pm and light out at 10.20pm.
4) At least 40 minutes walking during the day 6 days a week - 40 minutes done.
5) Deep clean the bedrooms - So the curtain poles went up this morning so I'm going to have a quick clean up of any mess made and get the curtains up and then I'm calling this one a success. :j0 -
Right, onto Noble November. While we were away I was very conscious of how tight my clothes felt, and I really can't imagine they've ALL shrunk! I've got quite a tummy, and it's getting harder to suck in. I've also felt lethargic and bloated, so November has got to be all about that. So, I will be living by the Fitbit in every way.
1) Eat healthily, and end the month at 8st 7lb Only one sweet treat daily.
2) Six glasses of water daily
3) Sleep Spend at least seven and a half hours in bed each night without my phone
4) Exercise 10000 steps daily.
5) Stop biting my nails. It's too soon to drop this one or I'll be back nibbling!
If I can do that lot I will be WELL chuffed.
They all sound like very sensible targets and I'm glad you are keeping the nail biting one, another month and I think you'll have it 'nailed' (hehe, see what I did there).
As for me, I will be setting November targets but as OH is off next week, I won't be setting targets until after he goes back to work on the 11th so I'll only be participating for two-thirds of the month. My target for the next week is to just have fun. We aren't going away but we have lots planned.
I will be popping in to give my support though and I will absolutely be back on the 11th to join in.1 -
Dolphin I think that is the best target ever - one we should all take heed of HAVE FUN :T - hope you manage it.
I’m taking my Notable November in weekly chunks
Week 1
- 2 NSDs
- sort out spare bedrooms
- not gain weight - I too have 8 1/2 stone in mind but it’ll take a while
- general tidy and keep on top of it
-reduce screen time
- attend gym twice
I love Portmeirion - we were on the train near there in September - was a beautiful ride.January spends - £587.580 -

You wouldn't have driven through Portmeirion without noticing - you'd definitely have noticed when you had to park up and pay £12 EACH to get in! We got free entry because we were staying there (although it's doubtless hidden within the overall cost) but there were hundreds of folk queueing up to pay. I daresay it costs a fortune to maintain, but it still seems a lot.......
I agree with Milann, having fun is the most important target and one we should all add to our list. So I have! Have a great week and see you on 11thDolphin I think that is the best target ever - one we should all take heed of HAVE FUN :T - hope you manage it. Agreed

1) Eat healthily, and end the month at 8st 7lb Only one sweet treat daily. Tick. Weight 1/11/19 was 8st 11.4
2) Six glasses of water daily. Tick, but I had to drink the final one at 11pm because I'd forgotten earlier. So then I had to stay up until midnight to minimise the risk of waking in the night for a wee!
3) Spend at least seven and a half hours in bed each night without my phone. Managed this, but Fitbit says I only slept for 6hrs 17 mins.
4) 10000 steps daily. Only managed 8400 because I completely forgot when I got home from work.
5) Stop biting my nails. Doing OK but they're not growing very fast - they keep splitting.
6) Do something fun Does indulging in a 2 hour Corrie catch-up count? I have a very low key idea of funLBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!

1) Eat healthily, and end the month at 8st 7lb Only one sweet treat daily. Tick. Weight 2/11/19 was 8st 10.7. Ate well, got my five a day.Two sweet treats which is technically a fail but one was a cornetto and the other a mini pack of maltesers, so both small. One glass of wine (small - quarter of a bottle)
2) Six glasses of water daily. Tick,
3) Spend at least seven and a half hours in bed each night without my phone. Not a great night because I woke up for a wee at half past four and was awake ages. Damn those six glasses of water!
4) 10000 steps daily. Mega-fail. It was cold and raining, managed 6484.
5) Stop biting my nails. I keep finding myself picking at the skin with my other hand. A whole new vice
6) Do something fun Sat all on my own in perfect peace and quiet watching Strictly and X Factor. I may need to work on my ideas of funLBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!

In other news, the roof leak that the builders are repairing is worse than we first thought and a small patch-up won't cure it. It will help for a year or two but the problem will come back.
It will cost another £3000, maybe a bit more, to do a proper repair and we don't have it. It's the same builders who have done the rest of the house and I trust them completely - their advice is to get it done now while they're up there rather than pay for a disappointing temporary repair. This is a bit gutting because all the rest of the refurb has been paid for as we've gone along without borrowing. Some of it was money left by the neighbour, some of it from the sale of our rental house, some from both our tax-free pension lump sums and some from basic scrimping from income.
We've told them to go ahead, but I'm going to have to increase the debt for the first time in years. I'm not worried about affordability, and if ever it becomes a struggle we can access a taxable lump from Mr H's pension (he draws enough now to just avoid paying tax) I just psychologically don't want to borrow. I'm going to have to though, and it will focus me 100% on my scrimping.
Off for my usual Sunday walk now but then I will spend the day checking the best deals out there.LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!

Wow, so you have to pay to enter the village! £12 each sounds extortionate, is it worth it do you reckon?

Oh, this may seem very disappointing but it is a 'need' not a 'want' so you don't really have any other choice. At least you know it won't want doing again and a good builder is worth their weight in gold so it would be best to get them to do it while they are available.
The good thing is that you have the focus and motivation to get it paid off in a reasonable timescale. Are you looking at getting a 0% credit card to cover it?
Just out of interest, would they take the payment in instalments? I don't know if that's a thing with builders but they have had quite a bit of work/money out of you so perhaps they would consider it?
By the way, I am watching Strictly this morning too and I would class that as 'fun'.0
