Hair now coloured so the roots are gone. I now have a problem in that our utility room where I colour it is quite posh and has white tiles around the sink. I'm scared of splashing/staining them with dye so I might have to start having it done professionally.

We also have white tiles and I have found that the hair dye that I use comes off them very easily. The problem I have had is when I get it on the walls or woodwork however I have found that the solution for that is to spray a bit of that HG Mould Remover spray on, leave it for a few minutes and then wipe it with a damp cloth. Completely gets rid of any marks although we have magnolia walls and white woodwork, it probably wouldn't work on darker paint because of the bleaching affect.

I would love to go to the hairdressers to get mine done but it needs doing every month so I definitely could not afford it. £5 for a box of dye every month is in my budget, £40+ for the hairdressers is not unfortunately. I have paid it in the past (for years) when I was working although I kind of regret it now because I realise what a waste it was when I could have saved that money or at least have spent it on something more useful.

Thanks for the tip. I've still got a bottle of dye left so I'll use that one very carefully and see how it goes. Apart from the expense, it seems like a real waste of time to sit half a day in the hairdressers when I could be at home.

Sorry to hear you're having to look after a man-flu sufferer. Not only is it doubly severe to lady flu, it also lasts twice as long.

Christmas shopping. I'm going to get a list written this weekend and make a start. Luckily we only buy for our kids and their OHs, plus our mums. We just buy token gifts for each other - time for me to order that telescopic window washer for the lucky, lucky Mr H :D

    1) Be Fabulous Umm. I bought some boots. I really did need them, they weren't just a want. They're incredibly comfortable and quite stylish whilst still being sensible. I tried loads on but it had to be these. They cost £80.

    2) Be even more money-savvy Erm, does it count that I got a 10% discount on the boots, which should have been £90? No, thought not. I've justified the expense because they will be my Christmas pressie from my mum who always gives us money. I'm sure Mr H won't mind that I've spent his share too!

    3) Be more Green I recycled the most expensive empty shoe box I've ever owned :D

Oops, it's been a week since I last posted. And even longer for Dolphin, so I hope you're OK if you're around.

    1) Be Fabulous
This has been a totally non-fabulous week. We've been decorating our utility room so I've been in painting gear most of each waking day. It's finished now though and looks very smart, although that won't last.
    2) Be even more money-savvy
The paint was expensive, but other than that spending has been low. Which it really shouldn't be at this time of year. Basically I haven't started my Xmas shopping yet. MUST get on with it
    3) Be more Green
If we were painting the utility room green I would DEFFO be very green. However, I am currently cream with accents of Farrow & Ball 'Old White' (But not real F & B, it's a Johnstone knock-off)

I think you were right, OH is only just getting over it now and he has been pretty poorly with it so I do feel bad for him.

I can't wait to hear about Mr HappyNow's reaction to the window washer. :rotfl:

The boots sound like a good buy, sometimes you have to pay for quality. My everyday shoes which I wear all the time and do a lot of walking in were about £90 four years ago and they are still going strong, no wear on the soles at all. One of my best buys ever.

There you go then, you have already covered the cost of them.

Sorry, I'm here! I just don't know where this week has gone.

Hooray to getting the utility room finished! :j

Yes, definitely time to make a start, especially on writing those cards if you do any. I find the card writing the most boring and time-consuming task so I'm so chuffed when that's out of the way.

  • And now for an update on my one and only target for November...

    1) To have all Christmas cards written and Christmas presents purchased/wrapped by the end of November

Cards have all been written, presents have all been purchased and wrapped so I am all ready to go on that front. I thought that I had loads of time a few weeks ago but it felt like a bit of a rush in the end but thankfully it is all done now.

December really has to be kitchen cleaning month for me if we are still setting targets?

I am totally IN AWE!! So far I haven't bought, never mind written, any cards and I've only bought two pressies, neither of which are wrapped.

However, I have spent two days cleaning the kitchen (builders dust and lots of it - I really had no choice) so I'm ahead of the game on that one.

I hope you will set targets for December. I am definitely going to. One of them will be to sort Christmas NOW!

    1) Be Fabulous
Still completely non-fab. The painting is finished, but there's such a lot of cleaning to do now the builders have gone. I've finished the kitchen apart from scrubbing the floor, but the rest of the house has a layer of dust and grime that I'm struggling to live with. As soon as that's done I'll make a bit more effort and at least get washed!
    2) Be even more money-savvy
I've just withdrawn £25 from Prolific and my YNAB is up to date. Still got all the Christmas spending to do :(
    3) Be more Green
Nothing much to report here but it's something I will be aware of when buying pressies this year. I'll only buy things people actually want and will use.
