:hello: Good morning HappyNow et al!

    Update for yesterday...

    1) To have 20 NCDs - None eaten so now on 5 NCDs for August :j.
    2) To walk an average of 10,000 steps per day over each week (so 70,000 total for each week) - Just over 11,000 steps :j.
    3) To put my light out by 11pm every night including weekends - It was a weird day yesterday, got up at 5.30am as OH and I were both awake, was knackered by 7pm so had a couple of hours sleep and got up again at 9pm then went back to bed about midnight . OH's sleeping pattern was just as bad. At least we got loads done yesterday :).
    4) To lose 10lbs over the course of the month - First report due Monday!

It must be catching Dolphin - my sleep pattern has been messed up since Thursday. Can't keep my eyes open at 9pm then wide awake at 4am then feel like I need a nap. Tried to solve it by staying up super late last night but forgot that I needed to get up at 6.30 to sort some baking out for a friend's garden party. So now its mid-morning and I'm yawning my head off. Hopefully I can make it till a respectable hour tonight and it will sort itself out.

Hi, Honey - I've started again with Flylady - well lurking rather than posting - our house has just gone to pot, not dirty but untidy and its making me grumpy so I'm going to deal with it. My plan is an hour a day as I can easily waste that much just faffing around the edges, so a flylady constructive hour should have more effect. And hopefully that will also help with the bigger project of sorting the 3 rooms with the remnants too.

Post! Flyladies love hearing from Lurkers and the more people who contribute to the thread the better it works.

Can't remember who asked how to get rid of tin foil on the base of the oven but I've no idea. The problem won't be the tin foil, it'll be what's causing it to stick but how you get to it through the tin foil is anybody's guess. I use evil chemicals on the oven now after trying bicarb and vinegar and everything else that's non-toxic. Nothing got rid of the stuff that had been there years, no matter how asiduously I cleaned it.

Well done on all your efforts you funny, funny ladies :D (not you Honey - you get a 'well done' for being funny but not for your target-effort-for-August)

*Hmmf* Just need to ease myself back into things, being a sloppy slattern by nature and rather enjoying not working on anything for a month.
Two targets is better than none, surely? Of course, I could always stay away for Awful August and skip back in some time in the far distant future if we're going to be judged on how slack and lax we are.

The House of Happy is in chaos. The good news is that Donkey-dog makes an excellent house guest and, luckily enough, my entire family (including our own dog) are madly in love with him. Which is fortunate, because the bad news is that his owner is very ill and unlikely to ever go home. He has no-one else, so Mr H and I are visiting daily and we are his named contacts. So not a good start to August and there's a fair chance it will end even worse.

Very sad to hear about your neighbour, Happy, but lucky Donkey Dog to have landed on his paws, rather than be put into rescue. And lucky neighbour to have such neighbourly neighbours. How you cram everything in is beyond me.

    Targets chosen accordingly!
    • Do something fun every day
    • Keep those purse strings tight (despite hospital parking of £2.80 daily )
    • Spend at least seven hours in bed each night
I will be more than happy with that :)

So, having dissed me, I notice that you haven't been posting progress, actually. Too busy, I'd guesss, so I won't be mean to you then, but I hope the fun thing is going well! • Lose 3lbs over the month. Weigh-in will be first thing Monday mornings.
No idea. Weigh in is tomorrow, so as long as I post today I can be all positive and hopeful, can't I?

    • Clear one hotspot a day, five days a week.

You are a good person Honey. And if anyone were to be judging, then I would be nul pointe today. I finished the wedding party baking and got finished mid morning and then had a nap and then read my book, and then we went out for dinner. I have achieved nothing - and I'm not even sorry.
Tomorrow, however, I will be as I have to achieve the job of doom by Thursday AND finish the sister job of doom which is unexpected. But today has been blissfully slothful.

Excellent, and thanks for the dancing girls! You are quite right, I have been dreadful at posting for the last few months. And the problem is, when I don't post, I don't do :o. So, here's my rather poor update for the last three days:
    • Do something fun every day: Friday - nothing fun :(. Saturday - Had an afternoon nap on the sofa. Not everyone's idea of fun, but I enjoyed it. Today - took Donkey-Dog for a four mile walk. He behaved perfectly and I was very proud of him. He looked a bit silly when all 49kg of him ran away whimpering after a teeny cocker spaniel barked at him but, hey, he's new!
    • Keep the purse-strings tight: Done, all three days.
    • Spend at least 7 hours in bed each night. Failed every night so far :D
I will be back tomorrow to celebrate Honey and Dolphin's Monday weigh-ins!

    :hello: Good morning all!

Now come on ladies, we are not competing against each other on who can do better or who can post the most, we are setting our own targets and the only thing that we are competing against is our own willpower which often wins out so there should be no judgement, only support. I think that everyone is doing amazingly :T:T:T.

    Update for yesterday...

    1) To have 20 NCDs - Chocolate and marshmallows eaten so still on 5 NCDs for August.
    2) To walk an average of 10,000 steps per day over each week (so 70,000 total for each week) - Only 5,000 steps walked yesterday but the total for the week was 74,080 so an average of 10,582 per day :j.
    3) To put my light out by 11pm every night including weekends - Light out at 11.30pm then up twice during the night as OH was pretty sick. He still went to work today though . I don't know how because I'm knackered and I wasn't even the one who was ill.
    4) To lose 10lbs over the course of the month - So how did all of my success this week equate on the scales, a grand total of 0lbs lost, no loss, no gain :(. The weird thing is that my clothes feel a bit looser so I feel like I have lost weight. Ah well, not to worry, maybe it's a delayed loss and it will show next week (fingers crossed). Onwards and upwards!

You're human after all! You've been so focussed while I've been snurgeling around doing nothing I was beginning to wonder if we'd got a Secret Superwoman amongst our number so I feel very heartened to learn that you have slothful days too, but I notice that you were actually full on until mid-morning, so you did achieve quite a bit in reality. Hmm. Maybe a bit bionic then.

No, as it turns out, neither do I.

Anyone who is as full on as you could count napping as a fun thing. It means you were focussed on your needs, as opposed to everyone else's, so in my book it counts.
    • Keep the purse-strings tight: Done, all three days.
Well done. Those figures really are amazing.
    • Spend at least 7 hours in bed each night. Failed every night so far :D
But you had a nap, so all is not lost.

I will be back tomorrow to celebrate Honey and Dolphin's Monday

*cof* Still, there's hope for Dolphin.

Yes teacher. *hangs head* and sits on naughty step with Happy, where we get told off for giggling.

    Update for yesterday...

    1) To have 20 NCDs - Chocolate and marshmallows eaten so still on 5 NCDs for August. I sometimes wonder what the point of marshmallows is, and then sample them to find out if I was wrong last timed, but each time to no avail. Whereas chocolate ....
    2) To walk an average of 10,000 steps per day over each week (so 70,000 total for each week) - Only 5,000 steps walked yesterday but the total for the week was 74,080 so an average of 10,582 per day :j. Fantastic achievement! Are you feeling the benefit of all this exercise yet?
    3) To put my light out by 11pm every night including weekends - Light out at 11.30pm then up twice during the night as OH was pretty sick. He still went to work today though . I don't know how because I'm knackered and I wasn't even the one who was ill. *healing vibes* for your OH and *feeling okay* vibes for you. It's amazing how much we take sleeping through the night for granted when it gets snatched away from us.
    4) To lose 10lbs over the course of the month - So how did all of my success this week equate on the scales, a grand total of 0lbs lost, no loss, no gain :(. Trying to work out a delicate way of saying that if large quantities of loopaper were required, the scales would probably reflect the loss. The hardest part of losing weight is not that the scales don't reflect your self-discipline. It's keeping going with the new regime when they don't because it seems a wasted effort. It's not, it will happen, just have faith in your new eating plan. Besides which, a week when you're not putting it on is a good week, isn't it? Well done on not gaining.
    Better is good enough.

I think the scales are faulty, or need a new battery of sumfink. They lied. They said I'd put on half a kilo! Can't be true, obviously. I might have to throw them out and find another set in a charity shop somewhere because there's no point in relying on broken kit, is there?
    • Clear one hotspot a day, five days a week.
As it was the weekend I didn't set myself an area to deal with, obviously, but OH and I finally got all of the trellis bought and up around the sundeck. Having tied in my disasterously overcrowded tomato plants it's now looking a bit chaotic because I've just booted all of the massive old pots that need dealing with into the centre of the space so I can't actually move out there at the moment. In other words - we have a new hotspot. But the good news is, I didn't manage to kill all of my tomato plants this year, so that's completely new, which equals progress. Good.
    Better is good enough.

Oh Honey you would not think me remotely bionic if you knew me in RL. I tend to get things done like a whirling dervish and then do nowt for ages, can't seem to find the happy medium which is partly caused by being self-employed and partly by being me. If everything gets done, and more or less on time with the only person being put out being me, then I'm happy-ish. I veer from obsessive list-ticking organisation to haven't a clue on a regular basis, almost hourly I would suspect. Somehow it works - mostly, if you don't look at the floor in my office or the back of my wardrobe or - or - you get the picture.

Lovely that you've made progress in your garden. Its OH's domain here and I don't do anything with it except sit in it. I think I would do it if he didn't but that's merely a notion as I've never been called to prove it. Probably a good thing as I'm death to all house plants except Orchids.

All that walking has probably toned you up Dolphin and that's why your clothes are looser. The actual weight loss will come in time as there's no way it can't if you have some kind of calorie deficit.

And hello Happy - glad that donkey dog is not too much bother, you are good to take him in all the same. I rather enjoy a nap too, though I wish it didn't happen when I was trying to read my book. The problem is possibly with the book however as whilst I appreciate that the protagonist is supposed to be flawed, I actually find him irritating. Fortunately the plot is sufficiently intriguing and I think he's going to get his come-uppance soon so I'll finish it.

That's a thing - I'm a regular at the library and love GM Malliet (though I wish one of her proofreaders would correct her americanisms since she insists on setting her books in the UK), Simon Brett, Jasper FForde and dozens of others but I needs some new suggestions and possibly new genres. What do you all read? I've tried the nordic thrillers but they don't do it for me, nor does anything too historical or deeply southern american just because it doesn't relate for me.

Well I'm posting and not achieving much of anything!
    1. Cut down to 10 cigarettes a day - Erm -

    2. Walk the dogs every day after work - Dogs walked but nothing epic
    3. Keep cycling to work every day - done Friday then very lazy sat/ sunday
    4. Stick to 1700 calories on non cycling days and 2000 on cycling days - Was good Friday and then Saturday my sister broke up with her boyfriend who lives with her so lots of chocolate was needed and being the supportive kind of person that I am I ate more than she did so weight loss goals severely sabotaged. They live together although she owns the house so not a great situation and her and her dog are staying with us while he moves out.
    5. Two weight training days a week - Just epic fail!

Dolphin - have you thought of taking measurements (I keep meaning to) as sometimes when scales not reducing can be so disheartening but have actually lost inches
