I have just finished reading this thread from the beginning and the word 'inspiration' has been used a lot : please add me to the list of inspirees (if that's not a word it should be!)
Happy Now, you and many others on here represent the thousands of women who are holding their families together, no matter what life throws at them, with love, bravery and determination.
You mentioned 'plate spinning' earlier which is exactly what you are doing: while virtually keeping your husband, children, parents, MIL, animals, home, garden and job from falling you are loading the washing machine, putting the vac round and food on the table, and cleaning the loo! Meanwhile fate is on the sidelines randomly lobbing watermelons at you and still you keep going with only a few glasses of wine and smarties to sustain you. If there's any justice you must be due a win on the lottery and a weekend with Jonny Depp!! :Well done!

Hear hear! Couldn't have put it better myself. :T for Nonnadiluca for saying it, and :T for doing it.
    Better is good enough.

    Update for yesterday...

    1) I had some butter on my toast yesterday morning otherwise it would have been another NCD so annoyed at myself for not resisting  (so still on 12 NCDs).

Am I the only person who read that as 'buttons' on my toast. I think I might try that now that I'm officially allowed chocolate buttons again. They have to have fewer calories than nutte11a, surely?

    2) Just under 3,000 steps so my first 'rest day' of the week :j.
And you so deserved that rest day, too. Well done on keeping it up.

    3) Light off at 11.30pm but it was Friday so it doesn't matter :j.
Amazing how good habits become a bit ingrained even if we struggle to get them going in the first place.
    4) No spends on other people :j.
Well done. Do you think you've cracked this one, once and for all?
    5) One of the window blinds in the kitchen removed, window cleaned and a new blind put up because the old one was broken and kept falling down :j (I may just get my kitchen jobs finished this month after all :A).
Well, my office, aka The Room of Doom is still every bit as scruffy as it was a the start of the month - apart from that one bit of shelf that I dusted way back when, which has now acquired it's very own pile of clutter, so while your lovely, sparkly, fixed kitchen is giving you a massive sense of pride and achievement, mine just makes me want to crawl back under the duvet. Hmm. It's a Bank Holiday. I just might - because as Scarlett says, 'Tomorrow is another day.'
    Better is good enough.

And for the last time, Happy actual Easter, Happy! And (((hugs))).
    • Carry on with contacting possible outlets, a county a fortnight should be about right. Nuffink because it's the weekend, a bank holiday, Easter and over for the year. I will have to make the final follow up calls this week but the pressure's now off and I can start planning more carefully so that by 2nd January 2017 I have a solid plan and can hopefully reach a higher hit rate on cold calling.
    • 15 minutes a day flying five days a week. Masses done on Friday to catch up. Rather chuffed with myself even if the top layer of the house has a rather attractive layer of dog hair hiding the layer of dust.
    • No sugary stuff until Easter Sunday. What a relief this is over. Rather unsurprisingly I have put 700 grams on, which my pal Google tells me is about 1.5lbs. I'm surprised it wasn't a LOT more and - it was so worth it.
    • No computer after 9.00 pm (except my ipod so that I can choose my night-time listening) and lights out by 11.30 pm. After all the real coffee I had yesterday I'm surprised I slept at all last night. I don't think 'lights out time' has even a sniff of a chance against bulk caffeine, but again - it was so worth it.
    • 5 fruit and veg a day. Mega amounts of food consumed, a a great deal of which was fruit and masses of veg. Just about the only healthy thing I did all weekend, basically.
    • Spring clean the office - dust the shelves first. Now only [STRIKE]seven[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]six[/STRIKE] four days on this one. Not quite Oops yet, but I'm getting there.
    • Electric toothbrush once a day. Tick.
    • No ***ing swearing, fine of £1 a word. Had to add this back in for myself, obvs, as it turns out it's quite a profitable little sideline. *holds out hand for cash* Welcome home, Fishwife! Goodness I've missed her. *mwah*
I realised over Easter that this was the first year ever that Easter has been a proper feast for me, which really only happened because of a complete co-incidence. It felt so fabulous after two months of really trying to curb my excesses over Lent that I'm tempted to take the concept of Lent a lot more seriously next year. A curious outcome, and one that I didn't imagine for a moment would actually happen.

And can I just say, I'm really missing you, Happy. I realise things must be very difficult and I hope, more than anything, that they improve for you very soon.
    Better is good enough.

    Update for yesterday...

    1) Some popcorn and ice cream eaten while watching a film :) (so still on 12 NCDs).
    2) Just over 4,000 steps so my second 'rest day' of the week :j.
    3) Light off at 10.45pm but it's Bank Holiday Monday so it doesn't matter :j.
    4) No spends on other people :j (I don't think I've cracked this one Honey Bear, I think it's just been a very quiet few months with not many family birthdays or visits. April and July are usually the challenging months and Christmas of course).
    5) Nothing else done but I'm happy with my progress so far :j.

You guys fill me with awe. What you really should be aware of is that even if you think you are failing, you are still making more progress than if you had not set yourselves the target.

I am currently up to my eyeballs in course work. But when that has finished I will be having a manic May to finally unpack all the cr*p (hands honey a coin), that we haven't unpacked from a move in November!

Happy I hope you are ok, and know that the lurkers are rooting for you too

I've been keeping our Glorious Leader company now for over a year doing this, and the reason I stick with it is that it seems to be the only way I can make these seemingly tiny changes in my life, all of which have a much bigger impact than would seem to make sense. The changes are so small it should be easy, but experience has taught me they're not. The cumulative difference when it works is brilliant, though and Happy's Thread is the only way I've been able to stick with it.

Ta muchly for the contribution, Chev. I hope your Manic May of unpacking your stuff will be in the fine company of Happy's Happy Band.

    • 15 minutes a day flying five days a week. Nuffink over Easter.
    • No sugary stuff until Easter Sunday. Now that the sugar cravings have been satisfied things have settled down a bit, but there is rather of a lot of pudding to finish. What a shame.
    • No computer after 9.00 pm (except my ipod so that I can choose my night-time listening) and lights out by 11.30 pm. Back on track.
    • 5 fruit and veg a day. I think I was okay. Back on track with porridge and dried fruit this morning.
    • Spring clean the office - dust the shelves first. Now only [STRIKE]seven[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]six[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]four[/STRIKE] three days on this one. Not quite Oops yet, but I'm seriously getting there.
    • Electric toothbrush once a day. Not a tick.
    • No ***ing swearing, fine of £1 a word. Had to add this back in for myself, obvs, as it turns out it's quite a profitable little sideline. *holds out hand for cash* Still channelling my Fishwife. Always good to hear the chink of other people's contributions hitting the savings tin.

    Morning Honey Bear !

    Update for yesterday...

    1) I finished off the bag of wine gums that I have been raiding for the last week on and off :) (so still on 12 NCDs and with only 3 days left of March, I am going to have to be good for all 3 days to make my target of 15 NCDs for March ).
    2) Just under 4,000 steps so my first 'rest day' of the week :j (but not that great seeing as it was only Monday ).
    3) Light off at 10.30pm :j.
    4) No spends on other people :j.
    5) Nothing else done but I'm happy with my progress so far :j.

I am well overdue an update on my (and OH's) weight loss so here goes...

    Last update on 19/12/15...
    My weight loss - 1st 3lbs
    OH's weight loss - 1st 1lbs

    Today on 29/03/16...
    My weight loss - 1st 6lbs
    OH's weight loss - 1st 2lbs

So in the last 3 months, that's a loss of 3lbs for me and 1lb for OH so still heading in the right direction very slowly and as it's now been a full year since we started the healthy eating plan, I'm quite pleased with what we have lost overall without putting it all back on :j.
