Update for yesterday...
1) None eaten :j (taking me to 5 NCDs). Yay! Great going.
2) Just over 12,000 steps :j. Do you feel any fitter yet?
3) Light off at 10.30pm :j (but it took me ages to get to sleep ). I'm suddenly finding that I'm not sleeping as well as I was. Do you think it's a sign of spring on the way?
4) No spends on other people :j. Yay!
5) Nothing else done but I'm happy with my progress so far :j.
I should hope you are! You're doing really, really well.joeyjimbles wrote: »The loft is accessible but the hole to access it is too small to put anything useful up there without massive faff.
I have a horrible feeling that I managed to squeeze a load of stuff into an attic space in my last flat and then forgot to get the step-ladder out and remove it when I sold it. It took me about a decade to realise I'd lost a particularly fat lever arch file of my notes at agricultural college many moons ago, and the last place I saw it was balanced precariously on the rafters. None of it can have been important because I've never been able to work out what else I shoved up there, but there was quite a pile of gibble I seem to remember. Ooops.Better is good enough.1 -
Helloooooooo Happy!
- Carry on with contacting possible outlets, a county a fortnight should be about right. Still: Must make a listy. Follow up call made, in fact, all County 2 follow up calls made. It is clear that owner of the type of businesses I'm targetting are not in on Mondays and Fridays. Interesting factoid.
- 15 minutes a day flying five days a week. Nuffink.
- No sugary stuff until Easter Sunday. Scoffed some freebie biscuits at an afternoon talk-thing I went to without realising until the damage had been done that they were full of flour, of couse, and sugar. Hurrumph.
- No computer after 9.00 pm (except my ipod so that I can choose my night-time listening) and lights out by 11.30 pm. Tick and cross. Pub quiz OH sprung on me Thursday night, three line whip, so was completely wired at midnight when we got home and ended up reading for quite a time.
- 5 fruit and veg a day. Four, if coleslaw counts. Chunky stuff, not those shavings of cabbage drowning in vinegary slop.
- Spring clean the office - dust the shelves first. Nuffink.
- Electric toothbrush once a day. Tick.
- No ***ing swearing, fine of £1 a word. Had to add this back in for myself, obvs, as it turns out it's quite a profitable little sideline. *holds out hand for cash* I may be letting the odd word slip out quietly but at least I'm conscious of it now.

Honey when we moved here we were lucky to have movers paid for by OH's work who did all the packing. Some stuff came here that must have been left by the previous owners and was discarded pretty soon after. And now, having had the roof done here and doubled the insulation we realised that we had fallen heir to discards from the previous owners - piles of magazines filled with ladies displaying their - um - assets. They are still there. I can't quite work out how to get them out of the house!LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

Update for yesterday...
1) Went to P1zza Expr4ss and had a chocolate brownie with cream for dessert(so still on 5 NCDs).
2) Just over 8,000 steps(my first 'rest day' of the week and Honey Bear despite not losing any more weight I feel so much fitter and can walk far more than I could this time last year before the aches and pains start).
3) Light off at 11.30pm(but it was Friday so it didn't matter).
4) No spends on other people :j.
5) Nothing else done but I'm happy with my progress so far :j.1 -
- Eat a minimum of 3 F&V per day. This is harder than it looks!
It does highlight the fact that my diet needs overhauling, though. Managed most days, but not Wednesday or yesterday.
I make it easy for myself by having chopped dates and sultanas on my porridge instead of sugar and beetroot juice to drink with lunch, and whatever two veg we have with the evening meal makes it five most days. If I know it's going to be something disgustingly unhealthy (I like junk food) I'll bung in some dried apricots at teatime instead of biscuits. I know it's supposed to be more veg than fruit but we don't live in a perfect world.joeyjimbles wrote: »... piles of magazines filled with ladies displaying their - um - assets. They are still there. Shove them in next door's recycling at midnight.1) Went to P1zza Expr4ss and had a chocolate brownie with cream for dessert(so still on 5 NCDs). Oooooh. Yummy. Bad Dolphin.
2) Just over 8,000 steps(my first 'rest day' of the week and Honey Bear despite not losing any more weight I feel so much fitter and can walk far more than I could this time last year before the aches and pains start). I don't know about you, but my apple shape doesn't really change with walking but I don't have a scrap of excess baggage on my bum and thighs from all the dogwalking.

Helloooooooo again, Happy!
- Carry on with contacting possible outlets, a county a fortnight should be about right. Still: Must make a listy. Another interesting factoid - men like the thing, women not so much. I thought it was just my imagination but there's a definite bias. Trouble is, most of the product are bought by women.
- 15 minutes a day flying five days a week. Turned out my chest of drawers and wardrobe. It all looks much better and the local hospice shop has benefited with a stuffed carrier bag of clothes I like but I know I won't wear again.
- No sugary stuff until Easter Sunday. Scoffed five squares of chocolate yesterday (bad Honey Bear) and finished the bar today. This is not easy. I think I've been addicited to sugar for a long, long time. I thought I didn't each much but since I gave up the booze I have let myself replace the sugar in alcohol with 'treats' and I now realise that while I didn't eat bix and chocolate while I used to drink, I was still getting a monstrous amount of sugar every day. I think that's why it's so tough.
- No computer after 9.00 pm (except my ipod so that I can choose my night-time listening) and lights out by 11.30 pm. Tick and cross. Wanted to read.
- 5 fruit and veg a day. Not a tick. Saturdays are hopeless.
- Spring clean the office - dust the shelves first. Nuffink.
- Electric toothbrush once a day. Tick.
- No ***ing swearing, fine of £1 a word. Had to add this back in for myself, obvs, as it turns out it's quite a profitable little sideline. *holds out hand for cash* Defo owe it a quid but it was so worth it.

Here I am! Sorry for the absence - I've said that such a lot recently - but it's lovely to see you are all still hard at it. Thanks for asking after Happy Pops, who is much the same really but hanging in there.
Donutneck - thanks for dropping by and good luck with your debt-busting.
Basketcase - nice set of targets and good luck with them all. I need to check out the new YNAB. I'm still on the Classic one and apparently it will be supported until at least the end of this year, but I was gutted when I heard it's being 'improved'.
Honey, Dolphin, Joey - you are my heroines!
My own update:o
- Finances. The only good bit. Payday on Tuesday and the debts are finally below £40K. I paid just £93 interest this month which has made me happy. Next stop 50%
- Healthy eating. I'm doing rubbish with this and have decided to adopt Dolphin's NCD approach. So far I have a score of zero.
- No more than one small glass of wine daily Hmm. Managing most days but I have my moments
- Keep the house half-decent Oh dear........
LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!

Debt May 21: Unsecured ZERO! ZILCH! Mortgage £22,3321 - Finances. The only good bit. Payday on Tuesday and the debts are finally below £40K. I paid just £93 interest this month which has made me happy. Next stop 50%

Hi Happy!
Glad to hear things are reasonably stable in the Happy Family. (Mrs Happy the Debt-Buster?)
I think you're being a bit hard on yourself. You've enough on your plate at present without all the extra targets. You can't do everything - so WELL DONE ON THE FINANCES!
:T:j:TA budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!

Anyhoo. Saw a programme ages ago (Kilroy-Silk, I think).
All the audience were chocoholics.
They all got a bar of chocolate. They could all eat as much as they wanted. But...
Half ate it normally and the other half had to let it melt on their tongue. No sucking allowed!
At the end, the 'normal' eaters handed in the empty wrappers. The 'melters' all had a lot left. I think even the most dedicated still had about half a bar.
Worth a try, perhaps?A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!

It's lovely to see you when you're about, but as BasketCase says, you've got a massive amount on your plate, and you're dealing with as much as you can just keeping going. We'll keep the home fires burning for you.
Donutneck - thanks for dropping by and good luck with your debt-busting. Ditto

I'm still on the Classic one and apparently it will be supported until at least the end of this year, but I was gutted when I heard it's being 'improved'. I use my own spreadsheets which double up as accounts for the once a year tax thing, so I've no idea if YNAB would be suitable for me. I've yet to come across a software update that I've ever found helpful, though.
Honey, Dolphin, Joey - you are my heroines! Ta everso.
